I think this will depend on the fifth generation. With the 3DS coming out within a year you have to wonder if the fifth generation will be coming to both DS and 3DS. I think like MysteryDungeon came out on both DS and GBA I think the fifth gen might come out on both. However their has been talk that the fifth generation is coming to DS and not 3DS.
This has me caught because we know a Ruby Saffire remake would launch after the fifth gen long after 3DS launches. However Nintendo has launched a new generation every time a new platform becomes availible. GB (Red/Blue) , GBA (Ruby/Saffire) , DS (Diamond/Pearl). So would Nintendo release a remake as the first Pokemon title for the 3DS?
I think a remake would make sense but it might come late if the fifth gen isn't on the 3DS!
