a few other companies are dreading this as well, mcdonalds and some of the other food companies expect tht this wont do them any good according to some of the conference calls that we've had, so i'll announce up front that i dont have any links for this. good job obama.
Thats quite a lot, although it appears the reason is to fix previous government stupidity. Seriously for a 'free market' country, your government certainly likes to stick its fingers into the private sector.
Tease.
John Deere stated their costs would be $250,000,000.
There are a few dozen other companies that have stated the same - I believe Verizon is going to get hit hard, too.
If Obama thinks unemployment is bad now, wait until the private sector cannot afford to hire for years.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Could you elaborate, please?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
"No, it's cruel of you to close insane tax loopholes!"
Really? Really?
If you want to argue about the level of taxation, that's another topic, but this rule change looks unassailable from where I'm sitting.
[edit: "where I'm sitting" = "I have read the following paragraph"
["Even though the federal subsidies were already tax free, employers could still write them off on their income taxes, in addition to writing off their own contribution. The new law, signed by Obama on Tuesday, maintains the subsidy as a tax-free incentive to employers, but prohibits them from taking it as a deduction."]

It was a poorly written law, but it was the framework that AT&T was working under. In a time like this, is the right answer to say "give us a billion dollars"?How many jobs do you think this will cost?
What's more important in America right now, health care reform, or creating jobs?
I can understand complaints about other parts of the bill, but about closing this nutty tax loophole? Seriously?
The law is far far more sensible now.

Well, in this case I think it would be more appropriate to call it "tax reform", but that's a fair point. As long as you're willing to take the position that the government should look the other way while it's getting robbed blind for as long as the economy isn't doing well.
