In the latest issue of French gaming magazine AMUSEMENT, tri-Ace director Yakayushi Suguro talks about the developer’s relation with Square Enix — considering they’re developing Resonance of Fate under SEGA’s publishing. While doing so, he seems to have revealed that a new Star Ocean title is on the way.

“But it’s not like Square Enix has lost tri-Ace forever,” Suguro told the French magazine, “they’ll have the new Star Ocean after Resonance of Fate is out.”

Is Star Ocean 5 already in the works?

Color me very excited. I love the Star Ocean series. Can't wait for another edition into the series. Not sure why this news wasn't picked up.

This is awesome. Im a big fan of tri-Ace and am definitely liking this news.

Nice, however i think they should try new things, still SO4 was really fun so a 5 should do well... i hope its a direct sequel to Till the end of Time... where there world is a reality.

I really hope that if this is true that S05 gets the sales they deserve. They are probably taking a beating from RoF.

This time they NEED to be multi platform. Especially in Japan. S04 could have been an easy 2M LTD copies IMO if they did it right at the beginning.

Hopefully they actually release the game on the ps3 this time.. instead of waiting over a year..

Because making it 360 exclusive in japan really facked up its potential sales, even when it went on ps3.

Hopefully the next Star Ocean will be released on both consoles day one, it will be more successful that way!

I think they did profit on S04. But they could have made alot more if they didn't go 360 only.

I saw this and nearly passed out! I knew tri-Ace wouldn't abandon SO! wOOOOOt!!

S03 is one of my favorite games ever. I love this series. In my top 5. Would be my 2nd fav RPG series.
