Forums - Gaming - This crazy Q1

Well, as so of you may noticed by looking at your checking account, a lot of good games have come out this past three months. Probably more than any Q1 ever. So, since I doubt many people could get all the games, I made a thread for people to tell what they got, why they got it, what they let fall by the wayside, and what missed games they plan on getting as the year continues.

I'll start us off with my list

What I got:

Mass effect 2- Story driven, so I feared spoilers if I waited too long to get it.

Bayonetta- I'm a sucker for action games, and this is one of the best I've ever played.

God of war 3- Mind blowingly good stuff, crazy sights and amazing battles, my personal GOTY so far.

Pokemon heart gold- The best and most complete pokemon ever gets a remake. Nostalgia in a box.

What I missed but plan on getting:

FF13- If heard a lot of mixed things about this game, but a FF game is still a must play.

Heavy rain- I've loved it since I played the demo, but haven't had the cash to buy it.

No more heroes 2- Its fun and quirky, but GoW and Bayoneta took priority for my action game fix.

MAG- I've played some rounds, but this is a game that needs dedication. Would have got it but mass effect 2 got my gaming dollar for that week.

What I missed that will stay missed-

Bioshock 2- Haven't heard much good about it, and I don't think it will live up to the first.

I knew I was forgetting something! Yakuza 3 is a must buy for me when I have the funds. Resonance of fate I could take or leave.

I've been clipping along at one a month.

Jan - Mass Effect 2

Feb - Heavy Rain

Mar - FFXIII

What I missed that will probably be purchased down the road:

Bioshock 2 - Loved the first, but I'm just so torn on this right now.

What I missed that I will purchase at a lower price or borrow down the road:

Bayonetta - Loved the demo but I'm not a big enough hack n slash guy to pay full price.

GoW3 - Need to finish the story but see the Bayonetta description for full info.

What I missed that will stay missed:

MAG - There's only so many hours I can stand to play online games, and not enough for this game.

WKC and ROF - I just can't seem to care, I find this odd these should attract me.

I know what you mean. I picked up Mass Effect 2 (my personal favorite so far), Bayonetta, GoW 3, and Final Fantasy XII. All of these games have been very good.

This is very impressive quarter and I still have Bioshock 2 and maybe Resonance of Fate to pick up. I played demos of Heavy Rain and MAG. I will be passing on those. However, I can see the appeal of both.

Edit: WRPGs and Action games are my favorite type of games. I also like the best of JRPGs and Shooters with a great story or RPG elements.

Mass Effect 2 was a must buy after how much I enjoyed the first one.

Bayonetta has just incredible and challenging gameplay. Button mashers need not apply.

God of War 3 is just an epic tale that I wanted to see through.

Fanal Fantasy XIII is an epic tale that I always get into.

So far this year I've only got Dawn of Discovery, and Rune Factory, Monster Hunter Portable 2, which aren't technically Q1 titles, but they are for me, Perfect Dark (XBLA), Toy Soldiers (XBLA), and I've got Monster Hunter 3 preordered. I just don't have enough money left to spend on new games anymore, as I've been out of work for a few months now. I have been selling a lot of my old games but you can only go off that for so long.

I was going to pick up Mass Effect 2 and FFXIII but I opted out, for one, because of the money issue, and two, because both of games don't seem as appealing to me as they used to. I played Mass Effect 1 and couldn't really get into it so no point of getting 2.

I had that same feeling about mass effect 1, the overall plot bored me and the reapers never seemed like the threat they were made out to be. But I loved the characters, the interactions, and the gameplay enough to want the sequel. And I was not disappointed. Without spoiling anything, I am much more excited about the main plot then I was at the end of 1.
