The problem is that regardless of the technological upgrades on the phone, if it doesn't have Itunes, it's inferior as a whole.

iTunes is inferior.

My Droid has all my music on it.  All purchased for a lot cheaper than iTunes (thank you Amaon!).  And yes my Droid integrates with Amazon MP3 just fine, thank you

How is dropbox on it? How about mint? Oh yea, those things are not out yet.

How does Madden play on it, or supper monkey ball? There are more games for the iPhone then there are apps for Android.

How was that launch of Android 2.1? Oh yea, they rolled it back.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just saying that today, the iPone is still the best phone for someone who wants a smartphone (if AT&T does not suck in your area).

Android is coming on strong, and could pass the app store some day, but today, it's not remotely there, and it's all about the apps.

How is that Apple douchebaggeryy err... censorship... over on the iPhone? How about them newspapers being censored by Apple, damn fine read right? Oh yeah, you can't.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just saying that today, Apple is still the biggest douchbag and its smartphone is the worst choice for a phone anyone can pick.

Apple might buckle with its censorship and drop the douchebag attitude, but today it's not even remotely there.

P.S. The sooner Apple goes out of business with its overpriced, controlled, underpowered, piles of crap, the better the world will be.

Well, being they are passing MS very soon as the richest tech company in the world, I would not hold your breath for that.

And there is the porn app on the iPhone... it's called Safari.

And just out of curiosity, how would the world be better if a company stopped selling a product? Btw, if you have a touch screen devise like an Android phone, you need to be thanking Apple. When the iPhone was announced, every one thought they were insane to bring a phone to market with a touch interface. Now everyone is doing it (and it's good for you and me, not bad).

Why all the hate? I would think someone who walks and rides public transportation everywhere they go and meets all those cool people on the street, would be a much happier person. I guess driving to work has it's advantages.

Actually it's not even close to competing with Microsoft on its ground, the places where Microsoft has been dominant will remain Microsoft dominant for many many years to come, that includes being the richest.Somehow I don't see how apple will go from $3.3bil profit to $6.6bil profit anytime "soon." Mind you, I am taking the best quarter Apple has ever seen versus the first one where Microsoft recovered from a profit decline. I hate Microsoft as much as any tech person, but Apple is just infinitely worse.

This why it's good if Apple goes and burns in hell:

For someone who sees death, doom, and decay in everything  anytime anyone does anything affecting people I would have imagined that something like that would majorly piss you off, but I guess you aren't too consistent and seem to chery pick issues to whine about.

btw, I am not against Android. My first post in this thread was that I am going to replace my iPhone with an Android phone most likely. I am just stating that as of right now, what the iPhone offers is just more then what Android offers.

I am one who never mesures the quality of technology based on the company providing it. I alway judge the merits of the product itself. Some people however, seem to hate Apple.

Not sure why anyone gets upset over an electronics company that sells toys.

Apple is about to pass MS with money in the bank (at 40 billion). With the iPad being an obvious success (they just ordered 3 million more screens from Samsung), Apple should do very well.

And why would a closed system piss me off? See, I am all about choices. If Apple does something I don't like, I sell my phone, and go get an Android. Simple free market working. What would suck, is if I had no choice at all ;)

And you think I see nothing but death, doom, and decay in everything? I think you have lost it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's profits that measure how successful and rich a company is, not how much money it can hoard up. I mean hell, if it's just about cash in laying around Microsoft can just cut its revenues to a minimum for a few quarters, where their current revenues will not uffer so much with Win7 and all, and they can completely leave Apple in the dust.

If I didn't know better, I'd say that the iPad will fail miserably since it doesn't cater to any crowd. But seeing how Apple fans will buy anything Steve Jobs shits out, even if its value is indeed shit, I can't argue confidently about whether it will succeed or not. I certainly hope not, since it does less tan what an iPhone can do, and infinitely less than a notebook, and all that for more money than buying an iPhone and a netbook.

Except people had no choice at all with the iPhone, and that's how Apple turned into assholes and why it's a closed program. I rememberseeing how Apple's business plan is just like Harley Davidson's back in the day. If you have a shit product then just make it seem a luxury item by restricting supply and raising the prices. Worked great for their PC line.

In the time I have been here I have seen many of your threads, and they are all about the health care, how you are moving, how something is going bankrupt, or how hings are going down the shitter, all spread over dozens of threads. I guess I was wrong and you just like to whine about things.

???

When has Apple ever been short on PC supply? And just because you don't get it, doesn't make the iPhone or iPad shit.

I have told this story before, so I will just give the short version. I was looking for a GPS tagging system for my honeymoon. I have a digital SLR camera (the one in my avatar), and I wanted to geotag the photos I took with it. After a few hours online, I had googled and found a product, found some reviews, found a place to buy it ($150), entered all my personal info, and was about to hit "buy" and wait the 4 days for it to ship, when I thought it myself "I wonder if there is something on the phone that can do that?"

I picked up the phone, hit the apps button, searched for geotag, found 3 apps, clicked on the one with the most stars, read a few reviews, clicked the "buy" button (for $4), it downloaded, and then I could geotag apps.

If the first place I thought to look was my phone, from the time I wanted a capability to the time I had that capability, would have been 3 minutes, not 2 hours + 4 days for delivery.

This is the power of the app store, and why it's the most significant thing in the computer industry in years. It's why everyone has an app store today.

The phone is just a phone. Dozens of phones out there are better. The app store is the story. It's why the iPad will be a huge success. It's all the same power with a screen that can allow apps to be so much more.

And I don't give a shit about Apple. I by products, not companies. When someone makes a better app store, I will buy whatever I need to be a part of that store.

This unjustified hatred of an electronics company that has done nothing but provide tools to people who wish to buy them, says a lot more about you, and not much about Apple.

Wow, people are really buying the iPad? It saddens me to see just how much like sheep Apple's followers are....

Why not save yourself some money and get a better product, like maybe a netbook.

As to your earlier comment to me, the iPhone is far from being the best smart phone.  If you want a smart phone for its true intentions (internet access, email, business tools, etc), the iPhone is about your worst option considering just how bad their service is.  I don't know of a single AT&T customer that actually likes what they have on their network.  The only reason they put up with it is because of the iPhone and the only reason they have an iPhone is because its the "cool" thing to do, just like having an iPod, or to the artsy people, a Mac.  Sure there are like 10,000 apps on Android and 85,000 on iPhone or something like that, but the Android OS is so far superior that it is only a matter of time until we see development and adoption shift.  Not to mention the iPhone has a multiple year headstart on the Android OS.

As for this 2.1 being rolled back, I have no idea what you are talking about.  I've had 2.1 on my phone since I bought it with no issues at all.

....Or wait for the Courier

@Nightsurge -

Its not the iPhones fault for having crappy internet at times....That problem lies on AT&T's horrid network.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I was gonna buy this but $280 i can get an Iphone. I just want a phone with good video recording quality but Tmobile has shit phones so im just gonna buy the Nexus One.

Its about time Sprint had a cutting edge phone... I may get that one. HDMI out? YES!

Oh, about 2.1:

Due to manufacturers, many phones haven't been upgraded to the right OS for quite some time.

For example, the Eris and Backflip among others still run the horribad 1.5, while most run 1.6 - all the while the best OS out is 2.1. That isn't great in terms of making sure you have a phone with the best version of Android on it. Its a really bad deal for app/game makers too, because 1.5 is the cause of lower sales for games in the Android Market.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
