Forums - Sony - Alright....let's discuss HEAVY RAIN's success!

This game really does deserve it and I personally wouldn't mind playing more games like it! I don't think I've ever been on the edge of my seat as much while playing a game before!

Also, with the type of gameplay that Heavy Rain has, this genre could be perfect for Move and Natal controls.

i hope for HR games anually

Btw, I see you've become a minion of mine. Welcome to the Team! Rainbird, kantor, and Vetteman welcome you as well!

HEY! I am not part of the team?

^Sounds like an easy oath to me because I loved it! And you know me, I was one of the game's biggest skeptics!

Man 960,000 ALREADY? WTF Quantic Dream and Sony are going to be having surprise buttsecks from now on

I guess it's success is well deserved and I for one got it because it's a different experience from the norm. For me it's a great casual game, I play it with my wife (who is NOT a gamer).

I can easily see games like this replacing or complementing 'movie' night.

I'm shocked it sold as well as it did, but congrats to them. I can't wait for a 8+ months from now when games in other genres start to take inspiration or note of what HR did well and implement them.

Game is great, any success it gets is well deserved.
Bring on Heavy Rain 2 !!!

It really did outperform what just about anybody thought it would do.

What i'm confused about though is the whole "opening up a new genre" thing.

How is this game different from Indigo Prophecy for example?

If it means the proliferation of this kind of game... I don't think so. You need to be a really special studio to be able to pull this kind of game off I think.

To my knowledge... this genre already existed... it was generally just done very poorly.  To ask if this genre is ready to move into the mainstream in a real way I think is a better question.

Kinda hard to cuddle if it "replaces" movie night though. Think about the areas where you have to shake the controller!

Well I for one find it very thrilling to see her get into the game, most of the time she doesn't care for 'my games' but this type of game kinda gets her into the fold

I keep telling her 'look whatever you do matters in the game so be careful' and oh does she takes it seriously!

I stay haven't bought it, damn my inability to pay for this game.
