My favorite game in the series is still Grandia 1, Grandia 2 was amazing but seemed a little bit stretched out towards the end and 3 I haven't finished yet because of some uneven difficulty levels (which most FF games also suffer from). Xtreme doesn't have much of  a story so failed to draw me in. However, I still believe that a mediocre Grandia game is still head and shoulders above other games. Their battle system is by far the best.

Also Grandia 1. Great game. I played the PSX version. I finished two and also three. Three was disappointing because of how short it was. I was at the end of Xtreme but agree that the lack of a story really made it boring. I never finished it. The battle systems are nice because they add an element of time to a turn based system with the cancellation moves.

mine is 2...maybe because I played it on DC, and it was one of the best rpg on it, besides SoA...lol

I loved 2 but towards the end I felt like they added a couple more dungeons to prolong the game.

Grandia 2 (though I haven't played Grandia 1 yet). Grandia 2 was simply amazing. Its one of my favorite jrpgs :)

Both of you can play it via PSN now. It still looks good on an HDTV but looks amazing on a PSP.

Grandia 2 for the Dreamcast its the only Grandia game I played and its the only JRPG I own for the Dreamcast I missed out on Skies of Arcadia.
