Forums - Gaming - What was the first game your mom complained about?

Back in the day when I had my N64, I saved up all my pocket money and bought Turok. I was the happiest kid on the block...until my mom walked in and what I was doing, she said that it wasn't good for me and took it away :( after that I was the saddest kid on the black.

My mother never complained about the games me and my brother played. In fact, she bought most of them for us.

I don't think my parents ever complained about any of the games I played. By the time games got to point where they were bad like Mortal Kombat, I was already old enough to know about that stuff. I wasn't 17, somewhere in middle school so I had seen blood before.

The only thing I remember them getting freaked out about was actually South Park. Even though I was 16+ when it happened, I remember when they found out I had bought a South Park video they flipped the fuck out. It was almost as bad as when they found out my sister played D&D (and boy was it awkward when they saw my D&D experience on my resume years later).

Oh!

I do remember right after the Wii came out I had brought it home over my winter break to show off.  I hooked it up to the family room TV and after everyone had gone to bed I started playing Zelda.  I turned the TV down but I didn't turn the Wiimote down so the sound coming out of it was still pretty loud.  I remember my parents yelling at my from their room (right next to the room I was in) to turn it down.  Does that count as complaining?

Parents never really cared what i played. The only time they really cared was when i used to spend many hours a day playing halo 2 online. But even then it was just a "you should get outside more". Then again i never really played any other video games for very long.

She rarely addresses her dislike for a game specifically. It's usually just stop playing that stupid game for awhile!

However, she wasn't too thrilled when me and my sister were playing Donkey Konga all night when she was trying to sleep. She wasn't a fan of all the clapping in that game. That was really the only time I can remember that I actually pissed her off and got yelled at playing a game.

I had what you youngsters might call "a cool mom." She never complained about any of the games I played growing up. In fact, she played so much Jaws on the NES she hurt her thumb, and a doctor said she had "Nintendonitis" and laughed his ass off.

I do remember loaning Ghosts 'n' Goblins to my neighbor, and his mom getting really mad because the game had so many demons in it. Then I found out she only let him play Mario games and the unlicensed Christian games.

@twesterm

Sorry, I guess I had to be a bit clearer with what I meant by 'complaining', my mom has gone nuts whenever I showed off my drumming skills whilst playing RockBand when she is at home. Many of us started playing video games at a young age...so I guess our parents would buy most of the games for us..and often they would look at them before making the actual purchase. Back in the day it was easier for parents to keep track as there were not as many games on the market as there are now.

I remember my mom beat my brother at NHL Stanley Cup on the 64. He started to cry, (he was about 6 at the time). After that, she complained that he never let her play anymore.

All of 'em. Well, that's probably unfair - but it felt like it at the time. Just general 'too much time playing games' type comments.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
