Forums - Sony - PSP2 may well be 3D! Despite what Sony says!

Well, after looking at some of the evidence surrounding the LADYLOO (Nintendo's new handheld codename), the 3D may well be accelerometer based as shown from the iPhone game: ----V

Now, The PSP is already capable of doing this, since there is an accelerometer attachment.

However, Sony recently responded to the LADYLOO by saying that they were not pursuing 3D display for its forthcoming portable. However, Sony is definitely in the market against iPhone/Touch, and have gone on record as such. As such, an accelerometer is almost a requirement as is a touch screen.

If Nintendo is indeed using an accelerometer based 3D, then psp2 will also, despite what Sony is saying about 3d, because even if Sony doesn't support it, 3rd parties will.

So, SOny fans, be careful what you say about 3ds, because psp2 could have the same thing, although I don't think there would be any issue of who copied who.

It depends on the layout. If they go for a larger screen for media playback then native 3D as seen in the 3DS may be prohibitively expensive!

Tease.

Are you implying Sony fans could be that opportunist ? OMG, THIS IS AN OUTRAGE !!

/opportunistic sarcasm

Well considering Sony is pushing 3D everywhere else (PS3, movies, tv) I think its safe to say that the plan on having 3D in their next handheld. I will be annoying to hear cries of copying nintendo when its announced though.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Yes, fighter, all of this outrage is senseless.

My first reaction was "I hope this is true", "I want more info", "Is this official".

I really don't understand the reaction it is getting, especially if the people decrying it are Sony fans...because the psp2 will do 3d too. I just think Sony didn't think of an accelerometer-based 3d when talking about the psp2, which is very possible and highly likely to be included on the next gen portable.

Let's all hold hands, sing a song and wait for E3.

Using accelerometer for 3D would give us the same results as this game on the DSi using camera tracking:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p3lDoVwEmts&hl=pt_PT&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p3lDoVwEmts&hl=pt_PT&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Why launch a portable with a different name, more graphics, and more pricey, that at the end the "3D" is the same as seen in that video?

Why does it have the Sharp 3D LCD screen then?

Also Nintendo said "3D without glasses" so it means its stereoscopic images, and those videos only shows successive single frames, otherwise you would need glasses to see the 3D effect.

Nintendo probably is talking here about the 3D you see in avatar, but you won't need glasses.

Stop spreading lies. You don't know how much it will actually cost.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.
