Nikkei and Asahi have reported that the 3ds will use Sharp's parallax barrier technology which will provide steroscopic 3d without glasses.

The only question I have then is the cost. An 8" PBLCD picture frame online costs 600+$. 2 4"PBLCD screens should be pretty expensive, yes?

OLED tvs are super expensive, does that mean OLED is too expensive for cell phones?

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Its supposed to be under 4 in.

Phones with 4.3 in displays

HTC HD2

HTC Supersonic

Toshiba has one

Motorola ROI

Phones with 3.7 in screens

Motorloa Droid

Nexus One

Many others

Many phones with 3.5 in screens

I really want the Supersonic, that thing looks tremendous.

and which ones have OLEDs?

Also keep in mind that many phones are heavily financed with plan contracts.

Without more data it's not possible to know how much it will cost. Just picking some random product from a google search and estimating pricing based on that information is inconclusive at best.

that's not what I'm doing at all. That's what you are doing; comparing the 3ds screen to cell-phones. I just did the math for you.

No that's not what I'm doing. I was pointing out that the price may not scale linearly. I was not making a specific claim on pricing.

You made the comparison, using cell phone screens as your exception. When you make a comparison, you take the benefits and the arguments that go along with it. Otherwise you are just saying:

The price would be anywhere between 1$-100$, which doesn't say much. You cannot make an argument and then say that the argument doesn't specifically say anything.

Nexus One has an OLED, Samsung Galaxy, Toshiba Ko1, Nokia N86 there are many more.

No you are comparing the cost of other products when you brought up $800 screen. All I am trying to point out is the cost of screens does not linearly progress with size. Also the sharp screens are supposedly IPS LCD not OLED. OLED is used as an example because it is expensive for a full size screen.

The technology is out there and has been used for over a year in a not so expensive cell phone and Japan does not subsidize phones like the US but take a look at the H001. Also the iPhone only cost 150 to make yet to buy it off of subsidy it is 700. Phones are killer profit margins.
