Forums - Sony - Custom soundtracks confirmed for ModNation Racers

Although custom soundtracks support was added to the Playstation 3 in 2007 via a firmware update, only a small fraction of new releases on the system utilize the feature. Fortunately, one of the most anticipated games on the system will support it.

According to Chuck Lacson, the Associate Product Marketing Manager of SCEA, confirmed that ModNation Racers will have custom soundtracks support on the comments section of the Playstation.Blog by stating, “If you play music on your XMB, that’s the music that will replace the in game soundtrack.”

ModNation Racers will be released on May 25th. You can check out some screens from the Playstation 3 version in the slideshow below:

More games should get this.

It'd be great to have more online games get this feature, like MAG for example.

cool =) i'm so getting this game

I've never understood why so few games use this feature.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

I'd be more surprised if it didn't have this feature.

@halil23

a few ps3 games have it already the way around that patent is to have the developers implement it

i thought this ment people would create their own track and upload it with your own music , which i wouldnt think posible due to the esrb rating of the game , i could upload it with a music with strong language ...

sweet! 4 player split-screen + custom music makes me so happy :)

Agreed.  I can understand certain games not getting it (for example Heavy Rain) but on the other hand I'm surprised that other titles don't have it - particularly Sony titles.

I kind of prefer Sony making it optional vs mandatory but surely it's a small effort to enable it in those games which would suit a custom soundtrack?

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
