Yeah but in terms of Consoles controllers its Perfect for fighting games.

No, it really isn't.  Dpad's still segmented by the casing, shoulder buttons are still somewhat awkward for fighters, and the buttons are too squishy imo.  Again, it's serviceable, which is more than can be said for the 360 pad, but far from ideal.

No 1st party pad is "Perfect" for fighters this gen, and no 1st party pad honestly has been since the Saturn. ;_;

It makes sense to go exclusive - there would be waaay more hype and interest surrounding it compared to Tekken 6.

So wait, you're insinuating that it would create more hype to cut down a massive amount of sales?

And that Tekken ever caused hype in these last few years?

Tekken 6 had hype until it was announced on the 360. And I'm not saying it's a fact, but I think Tekken 6 would have sold more if it had stayed exclusive on the PS3 and been released earlier instead of making people wait a year or so for a port to the 360.

Tekken 6 would've sold more had it not been a pile of shit.  I don't think being multiplatform factors even, if anything reaching a larger audience is almost always better for sales.

I also sincerely doubt the 360 port pushed things back a year, no way Namco's really that incompetent.

Being a Tales of fan, I beg to differ with Namco's competence level.

However, I have to honestly disagree with the amount of hype behind the Tekken series. It was very meh even before it was announced for the 360. If they really saw that much hype behind the game, why put that much effort into a port?

Being exclusive almost never sells more. Hype is a wonderful thing, but it's rather insignificant when it comes to hundreds of thousands of sales within a new audience.

And to give you an idea of what they were up to, Magna Carta 2 came out about a week or so after the release of Tekken 6. Which to why they thought that would be profitable over....many of their other games (WHERE'S GRACES AND HEARTS, AS WELL AS VESPERIA NAMCO?!) anyone could guess.

And Namco's most profitable game last year was Ben 10 anyway. Won't be surprised if they just go that route.

Okay, point taken.  But that's more an issue with Hometek (their US arm) than the JPN R&D group.

I still have no clue why they sunk any resources into Magna Carta, or why they're seemingly allergic to Wii and DS releases (XSEED's brought us more decent DS/Wii Namco stuff than Hometek the past year) or what's so daunting about localizing Vesperia's extra PS3 content.

Well, the issue of controllers is preference (aka opinion). To me, the SNES controller is STILL the King for fighters followed closely by the Dual Shock family. A game like Tekken obviously feels right with a PlayStation controller considering how long the franchise has been with that brand.

I'd concede for something like Tekken (which focuses on tapping motions rather than rolling motions, and has a 4 button layout rather than 6 button), the DualShock is totally fine.  Hell, Namco pretty much designed Tekken around the original PS pad (which had a literal segmented D-pad btw, it was 4 buttons).

If you "prefer" it over the Saturn pad for something like Street Fighter or KOF though, you need your head examined. :P

Tekken 6 is just a crap game. Making Tekken 6 exclusive would have just gotten a crap game out earlier.

If you want a fighter, Soul Calibur is simply a better game.

Controllers for fighting ROFLMAO. I could possibly consider it, if were are talking about the Japanese Saturn controller. The 360 D-Pad stinks, the Dual Shock's d-pad is better but it's like putting lip stick on a pig it stills sucks ass. No matter what the fighting game, the top players have one thing in common. They use an arcade stick.

+1 PS3 D-Pad is not that much better than 360 D-Pad. Tekken 6 is still hard to play on PS3 D-pad. Arcade control stick is teh only way to play fighting games and is well worth the investment if you are a fighting game fan. Arcade control stick on a console makes its closer to an Arcade experience.

My first tekken experience was tekken 3 for Playstation so I have no problem opening a can of whoop-ass with a Dual Shock D-pad.

tekken is not as popular as it used to be.

how would being exclusive help namco bandai? All those xbox 360 versions sold put extra money in their pocket. It's all about street figher 4 now. tekken is too slow.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

LoL 360 D-pad is no where near as good as PS3 D-pad, How can you say Tekken 6 is still hard on the PS3 D-pad, its easy.. it must be only you who sucks at Tekken games i assume? No offense I can play FPS games with both controllers (PS3&360) but when it comes to fighting games the 360 D-pad just kills my mood, it feels like am a total noob at fighting games.

PS3 D-pad for tekken 6 is a piece of cake, I lay my combo's, Juggles and ground moves consistently whereas the 360 D-pad i can't even finish my bloody combo's, and to add more to that i can't even side step correctly, dumbass D-pad keeps making me jump lol Most 360 owners i know who played and have Tekken 6 on their 360 consoles, they use the analog stick lol which is pretty crazy well.. to me.
