Forums - General - Google is going uncensored in China

In a move which surprises absolutely nobody, China has blocked Google searches:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/23/china_moves_to_restrict_google_hong_kong_services/

It looks like this row might also jeopardize the rollout of Android-based phones in China.

Does Google really think they will have any impact on Chinese policy? I suspect the only result of this dispute will be Google missing out on the most important emerging market in the world.

Yay, some good news these days.

I have to give a big high-five to Google for this. And anyone else find China's threat kind of odd? I mean...what are they going to do? Murder someone?

Ban Google from China.

There are other search engines in China, so it won't really matter at all. I'm going to be so glad once the people's republic of China falls.

you do know that US and UE governement may fall BEFORE them because of the economic mess we created ?

of course, we may be saved by some nice countries buying our debt every years ... like china ?

You do know that I want the US government to fall, right?

Gee, thanks. It's not like we gave your country huge economic aid after WWII or anything...

Why does every discussion I have with an American(from the usa) lead to WWII and Nazis?

Because it doesn't?

If you say you want a country to fail, and you provide no reason at all for saying that, they'll probably bring up something in history.

It really does, it's something I've noticed while I was in the USA for 2 months. And well, I can provide lots of reasons, but I don't want to bore people in this thread with history. And you're mixing up government with country here. I want my country's government to fall as well if it makes you feel better.

If the government falls, the country falls. You can say you want the government to change, but asking for it to fall is the death of a country. It would be the death of America and the death of Belgium. And also, next time you say stuff like that, elaborate.

Lol, the Belgian government falls all the time. The fall of a government doesn't mean the end of a country per se. There's change and there's drastic change. Belgium needs that and imo USA needs that too. Hardly anything big ever changes in Belgium because of the federalism. Hardly anything big changes in the USA as well because of the republicans(with the recent exception of the Health care insurance)

Obama basically had to "bribe" some people to make them vote "yes" in the parliament and it happens with pretty much every president. Funny thing is that the republicans are giving him a hard time now because he did that while republicans are even worse when it comes down to these things.

And well, I actually want the country Belgium to fall as well, but not the USA(it's a nice place if I say so my self xD). County of Flanders lasted from 862 till 1795(Napoleon)

No such thing as Belgians. To say it with the words of someone else "Sire, il n'y a pas de Belges"
