Forums - Microsoft - What if Microsoft shows a motion controller at E3?

ACTUALLY PSeye is an improved version of playstation eye. playstation eye being the tech MS is using for natal only slightly better. MS announcing a controller for natal will only contradict everything they said about natal and prove that without a controller natal would of been a huge fail.

Like I said back in September (for the tenth time):

Mark my words, Natal WILL eventually add a motion controller to their project.

I hope they do.
At least the idea of playing with it will sound plausible to me.

Well for one I dont think that will ever happen but if it does I will laugh at it like I did all other motion control ideas.

Wouldn't surprise me if they did, though maybe not at E3. I think they'd only do it if their market research finds that a controllerless gaming system isn't gaining a lot of consumer traction. It's non-gaming applications won't need any hand held peripheral device, so they still have the no more remote controls and mouse free computing to keep on going.

However from Sony's point of view they'd be able to say "I told you so" and Kevin Butler would come out smelling like Roses for his most recent ad.

Natal's main advantage is price. If for gaming you'll need a hand held controller for some/many games the price advantage diminishes and it's also an admission that while the tech is advanced over PSEye it's not really able to be used in gaming to its full advantage. So the hyperbole in this thread about it kicking move's arse is a bit rich.

Natal is supposedly capable of using controllers as well. But that's not their main focus. If they decide to do it though, they can. Maybe if the controller-free gaming doesn't hit the sweet spot like they want, they'll release a controller.

Truth does not fear investigation

I'll lmao,but, it won't happen.

I would laugh extremely hard like I did last E3 when they announced and demoed it, shit was classic.

LOL yeah, but even if it didn't work that good, remember that the average consumers doesn't know that. Just like there was many people believing that the standalone wiimote could do 1:1

Natal plus Wii like controllers would put Sony off the game.

wanna see the bottom of my shoe? BAM!

Never gets old. 2009 E3 MS Press Conference will always live in my gamer memory.

wouldn't that completely ruin all the hype they've gotten thus far?
Everyone who has ever said anything about Natal would be completely wrong, including devs.

I cannot think of anyreason they would undermine the goal of you as the controller. I can forsee combinations of controller as Natal but that would probably be using the original controller and limit the Natal to voice and face recognition with maybe some minimal body recognition. The excting thing about Natal is it is writing the book on controllerless interfaces although many on here profess to be experts in this area already even though nothing is a given right now.

In reference to any earlier quote stating "most" people see Natal as just Eye Toy 2.0, the only people seeing Natal as a PS Eye 2.0 are Sony fans nobody else really cares about the Eye toy version 1 or 2. This is the truth of the matter certrainly from the media perspective and it is the Natal system not Eye toy that is grabbing headlines.

After all this hype the bloody thing better be good.
