Forums - Gaming - To Microsoft and Nintendo fans

As a Nintendo fan I think that they have the BEST games ever made and the Wii has impressed me alot this gen. My favorite game of all time is also made from Nintendo(Pikmin 2) They have expanded their games with Wii Fit and Wii Sports and stuff which I like a lot.(Not many long time Nintendo fan like it) Sony has only impressed me with 1 of their games in the history of Sony and that Is LittleBigPlanet. Sony doesn't have much variety in my opinion but as long as Sony fans like it then thats all that counts.

My own experience of gaming on the PS3 has been overwhelming frustration, I've yet to play any game I though was great (no problem on the Wii or the 360), the games I have played seem to rely on good graphice rather than gameplay and what is it with the endless installing, loading, updateing? I remember playing Soul Calibur and it took a couple of hours messing around before I even got to play. The PS3 is the worst console I have ever bought and I 've owned many many consoles over the years.

Sony games have a unique feel. I can't describe it. There are only a few Sony franchises that I LOVE. Nintendo and surprisingly, Microsoft have franchises that are nearer to my heart for whatever reason. I don't know. I guess I'll say this: When Sony is good, they're very good. When they're mediocre, Sony fans still love them. And that's O.K.

This is pretty much exactly how it is.  I mean everyone has their great games, everyone has some meh stuff as well, but man oh man, if that meh game is made by Sony there's gonna be people that love it, any word that it could just be average can start a fight, and you're right it is perfectly fine, just it's crazy to me to see any fanbase defend a game from what it is.

To be honest, this gen I really feel Sony has made far better titles than they did last gen, they're really starting to return to the Sony I enjoyed during the PS1 era, but it took necessity for it to happen.  But in the end while they've tried to compete on just about every genre, with every developer/publisher, but still they haven't REALLY matched the quality of a Halo 3/CoD4 for FPS, or the Mario platformers for 2D/3D platformers.

It's much like Sony is the jack of all trades and makes the great games that keep you busy/buying games, but they really lack that genre they just dominate at, and it's the best game of its genre.  Don't take me the wrong way here, since some of my top games this gen are Sony made, but they have never really shown to be a dominating force in any one genre, like many people don't even want to compete with Nintendo with platformers and that says volumes, though I would argue Sony has a good hold on the monkey catching sims (I'm really wanting news on Ape Escape 4)

Just my 2 cents.

Hack and Slash - God of War - Best selling games of its genre. Best reviewed games of the genre.

Action Adventure - Uncharted - Easily the best new IP of this gen and won many many GOTY 2009 awards you know... not necessarily huge in terms of scale..but in quality its right up there...

When it comes to artistry, Sony first party offerings are the best. The games have more soul. Still think when it comes to sheer fun, Microsoft offerings are better. I don't have a Wii but my Wii friends tell me Nintendo are still amazing at living room based sitting on the sofa multiplayer like back in the days.

Sony >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MS + Nintendo in terms of Variety in exclusives
NOTE : Variety =/= Quality

Imo, this is not even a contest.

Sony >>> MS > Nintendo

Uncharted + Killzone + inFamous + Rathcet and Clank + Gran Turismo + Wipeout + God of War + Team ICO games + Resistence + Heavy Rain + LBP + Many more new IPs and old IPs to return = Sony

Gears, Halo, Forza, PGR, Fable, Crackdown, Rare = MS
MS really needs to improve their first party and stop relying on 3rd party exclusives

Nintendo (this is where it gets meh to me...butt not to millions of others) = 2D Mario, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galazy, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Metroid...

The only thing that interests me is Metroid...Honestly ask yourself whether Nintendo isn't lagging behind Sony in terms of AAA high quality games...Sony has way more variety. Nintendo games are family oriented and way too kiddy imo...except Metroid..It doesn't appeal to me at all...

You failed to mention Fire Emblem or Zelda. For this you must burn in the fires of Hades, as they are bar none the best Nintendo franchises. Also kiddy =/= bad. More often than not Serious = Bad. Games are made for fun, not to be gritty and realistic.

Also, I should point out that you named some non-first party games, such as Heavy Rain and Resistance.

Sorry about not mentioning FE and Zelda..but the variety is still lacking...

Heavy Rain and Resistence are first party you know....

lol wait. since when were we discussing exclusives? we're comparing sony as a developer to nintendo and microsoft as a developer. Who the fuck cares what other companies make?

Where have I mentioned a game not published by Sony ?

GOW_3e, would you think it fair to say that you might not have as much experience with Nintendo's variety of games as some other folks?

Heavy rain, possibly the worst game I've played in a long time...

Microsoft has nothing.

Sony does have some pretty decent titles (isn't uncharted first party?)

But still Nintendo takes the cake in terms of quality and quantity. No other company pumps out so many good games every year.

Yeeeeea... I agree with the MS part. They need to get better 1st party.

But the Nintendo part I just don't understand. I like Nintendo, but since the Wii came out, they have released the absolute worst library out of all the consoles. The Wii library reeks of mediocracy. Nintendo DO NOT pump out MANY good games EVERY year. What did they have last year? Wii Sports Resort? Wii Fit Plus? Don't make me laugh. Ok, they had NSMB Wii, which is a good game, but still a game that could've been released two generations ago. And ye they released Punch Out. Oh ye, and don't forget Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics, LOLOLOL... I'm sorry, but if theres something Nintendo DON'T do, it is to PUMP OUT good games every year. Maybe this year if we're lucky we'll get 4 games. SMG 2, Metroid, Zelda and some other game..

This year they have yet to release a game. Sony has already released multiple games.
