selnor once again makes himself look more foolish by the day.

The tech aside, the game looks amazing!!! And the gameplay even better!!! Cannot wait until its released, defo a release day buy!

Looks amazing? I wouldnt go that far, many games look better, but all AAA games look good enough this gen, people are way too hung up on graphics.

I thought the game looked okay from the demo, but the resolution does suprise me a little. The 360 can clearly support very good looking Unreal Engine games at 720p and I don't see anything in particular here that makes me feel this game shouldn't be 720p.

It won't affect the game much, but clearly the developer didn't push the engine polishing as far as they could have.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I didn't mind the graphics when I played the demo. It was the game itself I found extremely disappointing. I liked the feeling that you were almost helpless in the original SC games, and that sticking to the shadows would be the only way you'd survive. Now it just feels like every other shooter with a few stealth elements thrown in for the fans.

I wish they'd stuck with the original design for Conviction, which was more like a modern-day Assassin's Creed or a Bourne Identity.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Maybe they should have dropped the 2xAA to get the game running at 1280x720 as is standard for the vast majority of solid games.

Without a frame rate analysis, it's tough to say whether the lowered resolution was a good idea or not, but considering that fast paced games like MW2 (which deliver fast frame rates at the cost of dropping H res to 600 lines) it does seem a bit odd that the SC developers couldn't have done likewise unless the game uses some fairly complex effects that would drop frame rates to unplayable levels.

SC is a slower paced game, so this seems unlikely.

Are the models and environments that much more complex? Who knows.

And they don't get a free pass because "the game looks great anyway," "I couldn't tell the difference," "I still enjoyed the gameplay," "resolution isn't that important/doesn't matter," etc.

If that was the case, there wouldn't be any reason for any developer to push the hardware and engine code to run smoother when they can "just lower the output render resolution" instead.

Anything below 1920*1080p is not true HD. 720p is not even HD. The game can be upscaled to 1920*1080p on a HDTV. The natural resolution of most games is hardly ever in 1920*1080p. You need a Blu-Ray for true HD.
Natural resolution for Splinter Cell: Conviction is only 1024*576p

1280*720p is not true HD. It is actually SD. HD resolution starts at 1920*1080p

wow....... just.... wow... I don't know how to respond to something like this

You don't need to. Someone already covered that for ya.
