So, as I was buying Fragile Dreams at EB two days ago, the guy tried to sell me up on the disc scratch warrenty like they always do. But this guy made a huge stink about how I was making a mistake not getting it. Telling me that Wiis are netorious for scratching the discs as they suck them up. I pretty much called his bluff, and told him that they don't. He was being a big dick about it too. But it got me wondering.. do they? It's never happened to be before, and I've never heard or read about this happening to anyone.

Just ignore them, they just want to sell you their warranty.

really they only scratch the disks when they get moved around while their on (like if you yanked the gamecube controller cord too hard, and knocked the wii over).

i'd be careful not to do that, but other then that, don't be worried.

It's rare, but it happens. Pretty sure it happened to my MP3 disc when I loaned it to a friend. It came back with a nasty circular groove in the disc.

Some game stores offer a repair service. Seems to me you're better off repairing in the rare event of a serious scratch than buying insurance. I never paid to get the disc repaired, but I was up front with a store owner about the scratch and he offered me normal trade-in value for it anyway, so it can't cost too much to get them out.

all Discs scratch, some more than others, currently blu-ray discs are more scratch resistant than DVD's.

All in all, take care of your discs and you should be fine.

Don't believe him. Wii took years to do it, but eventually she learned to suck without biting.

If your Wii is scratching discs be sure your not moving it while its on and there is a disc inside..
