I was almost going to pass on it (even though I have beaten all FFs since 3 except 11) because of the things I was hearing about the linearity, and lack of towns. However, I decided to go ahead and get it because my younger brother said the battle system was good, and graphics were great. I am glad I did, I just made myself play it as a game, not a FF game (I am old school a bit, and still want turnbased games with an overworld). Well, I think it is a great game. It is very fun and engaging, only IMO that prevents it from being "amazing" is the fact it takes itself too seriously at times.
So to those still on the edge, go ahead and get the game. I just caution you to think of it as buying a new game that is a new experiance, and not think you are going to get another FF7 or 12 (I loved 12, second favorite of the Sony era)
