Forums - Sony - Panasonic 3D TVs Sell Out Nationwide

First wave of 3D-enabled displays flying off store shelves.

March 17, 2010 - This month the first wave of 3D TVs from Samsung and Panasonic hit retailers, and according to a report today from Business Week, they've been welcomed with open arms by consumers.

Panasonic said today that its 3D TVs have sold out nationwide in just one week of availability. The early success of Panasonic's 3D offering certainly doesn't solidify the long-term marketability of 3D TV technology, but it is a step in the right direction. The company has said that it will ramp up display production to meet demand.

WOW!!! I really didn't see that coming.

I wonder why Sony is waiting until June to hop on this gravy train??

Looks like 3D is the future....NOW!!!!!!!!

This is great news indeed but I don't necessarily think it's in reaction to PS3's 3D announcement. I blame Avatar.

Obviously they didn't have many so this should be taken with a grain of salt.

If they were alot or not it doesn't matter, what really matters is that the demand is bigger than expected. I for onec will be getting the Sony LX900 since I still have an regular tv and need to switch to HD. I don't necesserely wanted a Sony brand but since they are already offering the glasses it's a plus. Idk if panasonic offers them or it's a separate buy which is out of my question. If they do than I'm gamma have yo seriously think high one I should get.

Sony will be the better buy, they say they pioneered 3D tvs so go with the original, right?

How much do they retail for?

Dude, I don't even have an HDTV in my own room, and this is already gaining steam?

What's next? TV's with smell generators?

Different brands use different technology. For example SONY uses shutter glasses and Samsung uses polarized glasses.

Not 100% sure on this though.

Danmit , why did I have to buy my panasonic HD TV right before they made 3d capable ones?

Why's this in the Sony forum? The Forum subtitle is: "The Playstation lounge. Discuss the PS1 / PS2 / PS3 / PSP".

Should be moved to Off Topic.
