Forums - Microsoft - What happened to Mass Effect 2?

The continuing sales drop is surprising to me. It's a great game but like many, I bought it in the first week.

Does this game have any lasting power? Were the first week sales mostly fans of the first one and very few new players? It's still 500k below the first game and doesn't seem like it will catch it anytime soon.

I'm just surprised how quickly it stopped selling. 20,000 a week isn't bad but after a month and a half, those are pretty disappointing.

So its 500k below the original that was released about 2 years ago correct? And you think it will struggle to make it past that anytime soon? Are you serious? It will have it beat before the end of the year, you can qoute me.

It is 0.58 million behind WW, but sold 20k for the week of March 13th in NA alone. It should be fine. It won't be as big as ODST, MGS4 or probably even Uncharted 2/Left4Dead 2, but it isn't completely exclusive. PC sales will be reducing the sales of the console version.

Mass effect released more than 2 years before Mass effect 2. Mass effect 2 should easily sell close to 1.5 times the sales of Mass effect. Mass effect has been bundled and has had three Xmas holiday sales.

If it doesn't go below 15k a week that is -_-

Must be all those PC players buying it up. PC games tend to have longer legs than console games ;)

Well it has some DLC coming soon correct?   That could give it a small sales boost,  plus there is the Holiday season still.

PC sales and piracy (PC and X360) are hurting it.

don't worry, I will pick it up soon. :D

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Well first of all its has just fine sales so I wouldn't be worried about it and second its only the Month of March. I'm sure over the holidays when people are getting new 360's ME2 will get a nice sales boost. It will easily outsell the original.
