A couple of hours into it now, story feels a little rushed. Anders sounds and acts WAYYY too much like Alistair for my liking and was gutted to lose all my best gear importing and only keeping certain bits and bobs. Thinking of going back to my original save and selling all my top shizz so I import with a ton of money, lol.

Glad to have more dragon age, although it does feel a little sub par compared to the original at the moment, no emotions being stirred.

The one thing that I think they lived up to, and exceeded imo, is the focus on the central story.  Everything after Mass Effect that BioWare has done kinda feels like games about collecting party members.  In ME2 and Dragon Age, the whole game is pretty much just collecting members and delving into their backgrounds and motivations.  Once you've gotten your party, the game is about to end within an hour.  The actual plot on the back of the box only comes up once every blue moon.  Also, they've moved away from having a central bad guy that you can point at and say, "this guy is the boss."  In dragon age it was a demon who was in the game for like 5 seconds of  cutscenes and didn't show up until the very last battle.  ME2 did something similar as well.

The one thing I like about this expansion is that it feels like it's very focused on the story and there is a central bad guy and he gets screen time and he's an actual character that's getting fleshed out and he has an actual story arc.

I will get it when it is on the cheap side. Reason being I dislike the game, but my girlfriend loves it. Plus so many awesome games to play already!

I'm definately getting it soon, loved the origins a lot

Well like everyone else in here, i loved da, even more so than demon's souls, although they really are completely different. Getting this either today or tomorrow and can't wait to get into more story, i got abit tired after finished the main quest in da and didnt end up doing all the side quests. So a nice new story with new spells and enemy's sound awesome

i will not be. i certainly didnt find it as wonderful as some of the other people around here did, so that kind of price for an expansion is out of the question.

I miss the days when Bioware games had antagonists like Jon Irenicus. Characters with that were very developed and had interesting motivations.

I think it's because they spread out the characters a bit more and gave them personal quests (like Loyalty quests in ME2) whereas in games like KoTOR you gathered you party in the first third of the game. Simply having more interaction with your party members doesn't negate whatever it is you are questing for (because people wouldn't shut up about grey wardens, blights and darkspawn in DA)

I don't think Bioware has really gone away from telling epic stories. Remember the first mass effect had a very central antagonist that was very well developed. Dragon Age had a couple though, for the most of the game, the antagonist is Logaine. You are building up support to get rid of him so that you can get the country behind you to fight the bigger challenge, the darkspawn.

I think the "addition" of well developed party member dialogue and story is a natural evolution for RPG's and Bioware is pioneering the way.

I don't even know if I want it anymore or not... :/

why not?  the beginning is pretty rough, but after that it gets really good.  I would recommend it.
