And how would you know? did you check hardware boosts for the two PS2 games? And more importantly, let's say -hypothetically- GOW1 and GOW2 weren't big hardware movers, does that mean the GOW franchise didn't get strong recognition and fanbase to be TODAY a major franchise? Remember it launched succesfully a prequel on the PSP? and the GOW collection has sold more than 600K in USA alone? Remember GOW2 for PS2 debuted in 2007. Yes, 2007 when HD, and Wii and 360 were all the rage?
Please don't doubt GOW3's power based on foolish assumptions, it has built a large fanbase and it will rake in the dollars. As Tretton says, it's not ideal they are having shortages precisely now, but GOWIII will continue to sell and will well lots of PS3 this year and the next. Or do you think Mario Kart Wii stopped selling Wiis or Halo 3 stopped selling 360s after the first 3 or 4 months? I'm not saying GOW3 is THAT big for Sony, but it's quite big. I'd dare say it's almost as big as Metal Gear Solid.
