Wow DS is really establishing itself as the JRPG king, announcements keep on raining for it. But that's where the money is at, developers can't be blamed for it.

Another big hit confirmed?

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Well, I don't expect this will be a huge seller (the PS1 game wasn't I think), but yeah DS really is the (J)RPG king, bar none.  This year's really almost too loaded with potential stuff already (DQIX, FF Gaiden, Okamiden, SaGa2, DQVI, SMT Strange Journey, Etrian Odyssey III, Yggdra Unison, Infinite Soace, Pokemon HG/SS, Glory of Heracles, Golden Sun, Sakura Note, Seventh Dragon, Sands of Destruction, etc, etc).

Hopefully Namco let's Atlus or XSEED or someone pick it up, I doubt Hometek's at all interested in localization themselves...

Wasn't Alundra the PS1's secretly best game?

On topic: What the hell is this? A crossover of Ubisoft's Petz Games and Grandia?

Secret 5th best.

  1. Tail Concerto
  2. Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together (albeit INFERIOR to the SFC original)
  3. Misadventures of Tron Bonne
  4. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
  5. Alundra

You mean that wasn't already established? :P

This gen, undeniably.
Of all times? It can be a serious contender if the announcements keep on coming.

Ogre Battle was a terrible game.

Agreed. AWESOME soundtrack though.

Sad that SRPGs peaked with Tactics Ogre though.  Literally nothing in the genre since has been as good. ;_;

edit: who cares about Europe? *hides*

RolStoppable said:
Fire Emblem is the king of SRPGs, because unlike most games in the genre it actually requires strategy.

Is Tactics Ogre also a real time SRPG like Ogre Battle?

110/% true, I refuse to play FF tactics or ANY SRPG that allows you to revive or just buy a replacement soldier

RolStoppable said:
Most SRPGs also allow you to level grind and usually require you to do so. Disgaea is notorious for this. What's the point of a SRPG if your party rarely matches the strength of enemies and thus either make a victory impossible or a cake walk?

It makes absolutely no sense.

OMG beautiful i have Disgaea on and I was completely turned off by that, Hell Sacred Stones and Xtra dungeon thing and random enemy encounters annoyed me. I agree
