Dying on consoles... probably. Even FF is slowly turning into fast paced 'action' Rpg.
Bring us back turn-based, don't bother with the HD graphics, just give us a good story and a nice battle system and i'll spend my hard earned money on them!

too many reasons:
-japan demographics problems
-Square "choo$ing" the 360 as the rpg hd console.
-hd consoles sales in Japan.
-jrpg developers trying to copy wrpgs or not changing anything.

I think JRPG is just starting to gain some momentum this gen. There are a lot of JRPG coming out this year as well as those that are recently announced. I think devs will focus more so with the current gen console once the PS2 finally die. Not to mention the PS3 is starting to pick up some steam, which is a great console next to the Wii for JRPG in Japan.
I'm sure there will be more great JRPG in the future.
And no JRPG are not dying, they had a late bad start.
if seen tons of threads saying the same shit and the answer is still the same..NO!!! JRPG's are in no way dying. They are doing very well on the handhelds right now with several titles breaking a million units and averaging 90 on metacritic. There can we all agree on that now??? SO STOP POSTING USELESS THREADS!!!!
yes , i have to admit. dead as a sales....even in japan(besides FF DQ Pokemon) but still alive as a gameplay. RoF taught me the soul of Rofl Playing Game

↑ drawn by Tino Vainamoinen aka ex-NFG. thx
へんたい from japan, sorry.my english is suck,so plain english plz. thx
DS is the best console for small budget jrpgs ever. The problem with those few jrpgs that the OP is no doubt thinking of is that they were released on the PS360, which have miniscule userbases in Japan
Personally I love JRPGs...
But, yes JRPGs are dying. World RPGs and MMOs are more of interest to most gamers. Most gamers want instant action...
