Forums - Nintendo - Level 5 working on 'extremely anticipated' new game

lol.  You calling me biased as hell?  I don't think the world can take that much irony. ;)

Also, let's take a moment to your "facts" straight...

1) There's been no credible rumors that Level-5 isn't developing DQX.  If there are then point us to them.

2) Nunokuni's original announcement stated the game was for "Nintendo DS and tba console".  At it's unveiling Hino also revealed it started out as a console game, the DS version was decided on later, even though development priority would be shifted to the latter.  Then at the L5 vision event last fall, they reconfirmed the console version was still coming, but it would come after the DS release in spring/summer 2010.

Now, out of all the consoles, which one do you think a family friendly, super mainstream, Ghibli co-produced, DQ inspired RPG, where you cast spells by literally waving a wand, would be the most likely to be on? ;)

3) Hino said they have their own projects in the works for Wii and PS3, no event hint at how many. Saying 1 Wii and 1 PS3 is pure conjecture on anyone's part, the truth is we just don't know.

4) I said upcoming games.  If you want to include past titles (official only), then it's...

DS: 18 games (17 owned/selfpublished, 1 contracted)

PSP: 3 games (2 owned/selfpublished, 1 contracted)

PS3: 2 games (0 owned/selfpublished, 2 contracted)

"tba console": 2 games (2 owned/selfpublished)

Of course your biased. Who would otherwise lie to himself and make up things like that Level 5 is heavy Nintendo supporter to make it look like it's more likely a Wii game? Otherwise you just would have said the DS, and of course i'm biased, everyone has a preference to some degree to one the consoles, but I don't trie to hide it and neither I lie to myself to end up being dissapointed.

1. Actually because Level 5 has been busy with so many games, that rumours have started that an internal studio from Nintendo is the one who is making it. I still think that Level 5 will likely still be the one who is devoloping it, but nothing so far has been comfirmed, and this has atleast more credibility than your "Q2 Kirby rumours" or "Idolm@ster Wii rumours".

2. Could be just concepts for one console, and third-party support for the Wii has nothing in common with the third-party support for the DS. Hell even the Xbox 360 has more mainstream highprofile Japanese games from third-partys, if we exclude MHIII of course. Hell, a mainstream Tales of can't even sell on the Wii.

3. It's a company of 200+ employees, and games like DQIX and WKC probably take a lot of them. They are probably outsourcing some stuff like Tri-Ace and other Japanese have been doing lately, but they can't be doing crazy total of games, and it's likely that some of the stuff from which we haven't heard in a couple of years has been either canned or turned into another game.

4. Yeah one unannounced Wii game, and not 3.

lol. I'd say not being able acknowledge Level-5's rather clear and overwhelmingly successful shift to Nintendo this generation would fall more within the category of lying to one's self. ;)

Also, cute how after pulling the biased card you immediately fall back into "uh we all have preferences".  Well, no shit.  Genius.

As to your "points"....

1. So no source for said rumors, with an added a (offtopic) attack on things I've said before for some deflection.  It's like internet trolling and non-sequitur logic 101. Well, to satiate your curiosity, the Kirby rumor stemmed from an incorrect GameFAQs listing (which was for Q1, not Q2, at least get this stuff correct plz), and the Idolm@ster Wii rumor comes direct from Game Labo's Feb 2010 issue.  Now again, kindly tell us where you've pulled that DQX rumor from?

2. I'm not comparing to DS 3rd party support, and I've no idea where you're reading that. I'm saying which console would a family oriented mainstream RPG with wand casting and a Ghibli connection be most likely to land on? The console where DQ Swords was big hit and outsold all other RPGs this gen not named FFXIII perhaps? ;)

Which console this gen is the most family friendly?  Which is the most mainstream?  Which has an affinity to classic brands (at least comparable to Ghibli in nostalgia factor/tone)?  Which emphasizes an primary interface to support wand waving spellcasting?  I'll give you a hint, there's one answer to all these questions...

3. WKC2 won't need as big a team as the first, they've already got the core engine and game design in place from WKC1.  Same deal for Inazuma Eleven 3, Layton 5 and most of their other big projects (Danboard Senki, Nunokuni) are releasing soon and pretty far along already.  I'd agree that IE Break and Ushiro going missing means both could've been shelved too, and those resources put into more attractive Wii/PS3 games (I actually suggested as much earlier, with Sengoku Yakyuu Wii and Ushiro PS3).  And actually we know that Level-5 is working with outside devs... they're working with Nintendo-owned Brownie Brown on Fantasy Life and the London Life portion of the last Layton game.  Yet another sign of the close and preferential Nintendo relationship. ;)

4. Pure conjecture on your part.  We don't know how many "unannounced" projects L5 has... saying "unannounced" sort of gives that away. If we're going by official stuff on consoles, Sony paid for 2 games for PS3, nothing's been confirmed for Wii, 360 is lol never (after the TFLO debacle) and L5 is doing 2 games on themselves on a "tba console".  Pretty simple to connect those dots...

so...just a thought...but wouldnt it be funny if it turned out to be a 360 game....

*puts up flame shield*

L5's CEO would have your head for that you know, L5 and MS have one bitter relationship after the debacle over the heavily promising True Fantasy Online, feel free to ask if you want to know more.
