I'll never understand the Ubi hate that some members of this forum have for the company. Other than Capcom, I can't think of a huge publisher that has a better ratio of high-quality games than Ubi. Sure, some of their ports suck but overall, they're pretty solid, especially when you consider how many games the company produces a year.

Ubisoft is a pretty sloppy company, and most of their best games tend to have some very noticeable flaws ...

True, but rarely do they put out a complete turd. I tend to enjoy almost all of their games, flaws or not.

Take for example Assassin's Creed. Could the game have been better? Absolutely. But given the radical new gameplay elements and immersive environments found in the game, I'll cut them a little slack for repetitive quests and "Abre Los Ojos" storyline. Overall, it's a damned fine game that moves the genre forward.

Ubisoft makes a lot of good games, but then again so does EA. Lately it seems like their philosophy towards ambitious game designs (and everything promised in trailers) has been "Great, let's take half of those to get the initial game out quick, and implement the rest in sequels!". They're not bad, but I can barely remember whne they were truly good.

Though it was quite some time ago, the original Splinter Cell was great. Ubi basically took MGS, removed some of the peripheral gameplay, and gave the game a control system that didn't completely suck. Ever since that day, I haven't enjoyed a MGS game much because SC implemented such superior controls.

Hmm, Gamasutra is reporting Haze is a Q1 08 release.

It was only 3 days ago they said it was coming out on Dec 14, 2007.

What could cause such a sudden delay?

@FishyJoe: Q1 08 calendar = Q4 07-08 Ubisoft fiscal.

Ah, thanks. Still I wonder what would cause such a sudden delay when it was just a couple of days ago they reaffirmed the launch date.

 CoD4's amazing second week sales may have had something to do with it.
