Forums - Sony - Why don't the gods give Kratos amnesia?

I couldn't care less about the plot of God of War, but I can't believe people are insisting that the Greek gods aren't capricious jerks.  What about the freaking Judgement of Paris?  The entire Trojan War started, and alliances were chosen, because of a beauty contest?  And one in which everyone was cheating anyway??

And the story of Ariadne, where the most gifted seamstress ever born draws Athena's notice, and the two decide to have a sew-off, and when the young human girl doesn't even win but tries her best, in front of her family the slightly offended goddess turns her into a small, black, shriveled creature -- the first spider -- doomed to sew for the rest of her life?  (And keep in mind, Athena is the most reasonable one in the entire Panthenon.)

Do you want some more examples?

nowhere in greek mythology has any human ever gotten a fair deal. Lern2myth.jpg

It's the epitome of "be careful what you wish for". If you wish for beauty, you are turned into a beautiful tree by which lovers carve their names into, so you suffer eternal agony as people stab you.

Besides, in the first god of war, Athena says "Your sins are forgiven. But we never promised to remove your nightmares. No man, no god, could ever forget the terrible things you have done."

erm i think because its a game

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

Slightly off-topic. but the Greek gods were really fucking sadistic and insane.

Tantalus cooked his son (I think Poleps or something) and fed him to the gods for dinner. His punishment? Stand on the barrier of heaven for all eternity dying of thirst and hunger (but never dying) with water and food JUST out of his reach. Horrible.

Also, another person (forget the name) was doomed to be attached to a cliff and every day a bird would come and eat his organs and he would only be revived so that his organs could be eaten every day forever.

Think they'd be happy by giving a simple case of amnesia? That's BORING.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

why not let hades take me to hell and he will forget all about it while being tortured all hes gonna think of is the pain of hell and how he wants to kill hades once hes outa hell

Those were both punishments given to people who DIRECTLY went against the gods.

That's not even remotley true.

Persues for example.

The gods usually did right by you, so long as you did right by them.

If you failed them... that's when they'd be angry.

The "be careful for you wish for" stuff is just basic "don't wish for bullshit cause you'll get it."  It has nothing to do with the gods being jerks.  Just people making hasty incomplete wishes.
