The problem with FFXII that most people had with it was the two things that Final Fantasy is mostly known for, good story and good characters. Both of which FFXII didn't have, but gameplay was probably the best even though it was so different then the others so it kind of balances itself out.

See, there's the thing.

Save for a few in the early games (Kain), the game had the strongest characters in the series.

And it easily had the best plot. FFXIII is gonna have to try real hard to match it.

I couldn't finish 12 and stopped half way...... has nothing to do with game play mechanics or what not, my desire to play just fades extremely fast when I boot the thing up, prolly because I know how much grinding it takes to beat the game and I don't see a point to it since I just play for the story in FF and FF usually doesn't have addictive combat style like Tales or SO series, but 13 is not bad on that front I suppose.

I'm quite a ways into FFXIII now (chapter 11) and I would say that neither the game's characters nor its plot is as good, as a whole, as XII. I realize that it isn't exactly fair to come to conclusions yet, as I've played XII through 3 times and XIII still remains unfinished, but it's seeming that way thusfar. Of course, that isn't to take anything from XIII's cast or anything. I'm really, really enjoying the game in whole.

With its battle system, however, I'm having much more fun than I did with XII - and I had a blast playing XII.

Good. That's good! If the combat is fun, I very much look forward to playing it some months down the line.

The way I play Final Fantasy games is a bit different from hwo I play msot other games, but at least it allows me to divorce myself from the insane FF hype that the games get on release.

FF XII was good, but not the best in the franchise.

I also don't think it deserves the bashing it gets, but to say it's the best.

Well that's just to generation countless pages in this post for you.

For me ofcourse.
