I just replayed this game and I cant even comprehend why this game gets the hate it does......the only weak point in this game is vaan but the is a point you can easily look past.

The combat system is easily the best in any FF game , and in a 30+ hour game that is the most important thing......on the plus side vaan isnt some emo on a period like most FF characters before him.

Ive tried to get into every single FF in the ps1/2 era and each one disappoints and I cant play past the half hour mark(the only reason I got through FFVII was because there was absolutely nothing else to play on the psp)

Given the guidelines you put down (dealing with VII and later) I agree with you, but you are asking for trouble.

Combat is fun, but incredibly broken, at times. Zodiac spear, WTF. Also Vaan, should be shot on sight. It had potential, to be a greatest Final Fantasy but it's just has a lot of annoying quirks. IMO

FFXII was a disgrace.

Good game nonetheless but it should have never been named Final Fantasy. It was just too different.

Ego problems? LOL. He named himself Jesus for Christ sake.

FFXII is an amazing game, but I'll rank VI, IV and IX above FFXII. The thing that annoyed me in FFXII was the last few dungeons where pretty much every enemy would cast an ailment on you. There were a couple of other things that annoyed me in FFXII.

As for the worst, Crisis Core hands down.
