Americans seem to feel racing simulators are redundant experiences. Europe will be alone in carrying this game. Europeans (especially latins) love cars.

Does NASCAR have a huge following in the US as they say? Because if that's the case, if Sony can advertise the NASCAR aspect of GT5 (especially that you can drive NASCAR vehicles in city tracks) well, then it could be huge.

It does have a huge NASCAR following in the states. I doubt GT will ever have America the way it used to. Even Forza did better in Europe than in America. That is a testament to how much Americans really don't care anymore.

Hmm...you have a point.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Forza

*snickers* trolling... and a very weak troll attempt at that.

How is that trolling? There has been 3 Forza games in the time that it took them to make 1 GT game. GT is irrelivant to most people now-a-days.

Yeah its that irrelivant that the 40$ demo of GT5 outsold the definitive racing sim (also known as Forza 3) 1,8:1

Funny how many people just tend to ignore some important facts...

Online was cut before GT4 NA release, its not rocket science it really is that simple.

PD said them self's, NA is the region of bitching about online and damage for GT. Now it will get both.

Wow what an achievement a much more popular game that has been out much much longer than Forza 3, with its starting price at $40 and has had bundles in japan/europe outsold a lesser known game....lol get real man...

My point doesnt mean Forza is more popular because it isn't......its no where near, but don't make silly comparisons.....

Gt4 reached 11 Million recently. The numbers came from PD. Also GT1 and GT3 are higher then GT2 and GT4 because first one sells better. And Gt5 prologue a pricey demo sold 4 Million+. You can open such a thread if its clear how good Gt5 performed Gt is a slow seller and has amazing legs. 2 years after the release it will be clear how good Gt5 has performed.

And I honestly think GT5 will be really really big. This game will be amazing. And it will finaly answer the question if GT lost popularity. I dont think so tbh. There is no sign that Gt lost some of its appeal. Gt5 Prologue sold great and Gt4 sold also great compared to GT2.

Yeah as people said already. GT5 has Nascar.

The main reason is that racing games are not your typical online game (the north-american console market is ahead of others online-wise).

The second main reason would be that having a western console with two great complementary racing franchises, one arcadey (PGR) and the other a true sim (forza), obviously gave north americans alternatives.

Should be mentionned also that Polyphony Digital having had development issues with the fifth installment (GT5hd then Prologue then wait... wait... 2010?) has given the fans a lot of time to look elsewhere and GT5 should perform even worse than expected because of that.

Its not silly, Look at GT5p Euro release sales compared to Forza3, then look at the User base for each.  GT5p did superiorsa numbers on like half the user base.  Iam to lazy to check the exact numbers so you can find out for yourself.

Fact is what every other racing game does on the market is totally irrelivant to GTs success.

Btw Gt5 was delayed once in Japan (March 2010 to end of 2010) They never announced an official release date in the rest of the world. So basicaly it was never delayed in america.
