Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft says February was the “biggest in Xbox 360 history”

The xbox is here to stay, that much is clear now. But most people already made up their mind about what console to get when this gen started. When many games now multiplat were still exclusive and when peopel expected Microsoft to shamefully finish on a distant third place. Much has changed so when the Xbox 3 (or Xbox 10'80) launches both the USA and ''others'' will be up for grabs. Maybe Sony and Microsoft should just pull a joint venture and finance one console to maximize profit and lower the risks.

So now MS is using its NPD figures (which only tracks America) to say its basically 'won' February? I take it MS has basically no concern for the rest of the world, since both the Wii AND PS3 outsold it in total sales for Feb.

There smart though because all their trying to do is make Americans think they are winning overall. It creates a helpful illusion to American consumers who don't get the whole picture. Sights like IGN piss me off in that they only report NDP numbers. It is a shame, it is manipulation.

or it could possibly, and I mean this is just a possibility anything can happen, be due to the fact they were asked to respond to NPD numbers?  I mean I know this is a pretty crazy prediction and all but maybe they didn't want to start discussing sales in Others and Japan considering that has nothing to do with NPD?  Though your probably right with the whole conspiracy theory thing what am I thinking.

EDIT:  Also for the record I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything I'm just playing around, though I think it is pretty obvious why they only talked about the America's in an NPD response, Others and Japan have nothing to do with NPD

In terms of strategic importance (obviously not overall sales levels), the US is probably at least 2 times as important as the rest of the world combined.

That reflects in weekly console sales. (not)

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Bigger is better. Longer is also better. Bigger and Longer is the best.

That's what she says.

This.

That?

All the exclusives the 360 is getting this year is really helping it push itself ahead and the early start is also a plus. They should have Sony's number most of the year and they'll close out the year with Halo Reach the AAA of AAA's for the year.

As an american, americans are not brand loyal to american products, like Japan is for instance. Most things americans buy everyday are made in other countries.

+1. Americans will buy from anyone. If you give quality and the right price to Americans, they'll buy the product. American companies since the economic recession have been putting out better quality products and cars and Americans are choosing to respond to American products. This is a first in a very long time. Japanese products are coming under close watch in America, most notably Toyota for bad parts.

So which is it?  Did you not bother to read what I wrote or were you incapable of understanding it?

No I read it. You said 2 times as important as the rest of the world combined. We're talking about hardware sales.

So let's look at the market leader, Nintendo. The Wii currently has 32.26 million consoles sold in America. Others region + Japan = 36.40 million.

32.26 million < 36.40 million.

And the US isn't helping the 360 outsell the PS3. The gap has been closing for a while thanks to the Others and Japan region.

Is your reading comprehension really so bad that you actually believe what you just wrote?  Here is a hint, you highlighted the wrong part of sentence.
