Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft controller-free experiences are the future of gaming!

In a way, he is correct about non holding input devices while I play games.  (Think Holdecks) and its to early.  To bad it wont be Microsoft leading that charge.  I'm PR but in a nice way and will deffinately tell you  the Nintendo Wii is out of stock.  I wish the store/company I worked for had 10,000 they would be SOLD.  Since you cant get the number 1 selling machine may aswell settle for number 2 which seems to always be available (since its put together in Mexico).

the future is looking bleak ..

lol, jk - I just wonder how he would react to the question "does that mean Halo is the past? games of those franchise don't seem to work without controllers"

just not sold on this. have to wait and see

Controller free is the future of gaming? Unlikely. Is it the future of perhaps media interface on TV? Maybe?! LOL.

But strictly speaking I guess hes right in that only Natal makes you the controller. Thats pretty lame, I mean jumping onto the tracks is the only way to be run over by a train and killed.

Not necessarily.  The train could also derail and hit you.  You could be pushed in front of it instead of jumping on them.  Your car maybe could stall.

Corner cases! I predict you'll use some other corner case like a nose picking game which can only be done with Natal. But Total recall proves you WRONG!

Someone needs to teach him of the dangers of Sonys move. Expect to see Wii like gaming injuries articles appear when the move is released.

See we already have a "Simpsons did it" comment. Not surprised.

At least the PR is learning. They've started using phrases like "controller free experiences" instead of"natal will replace the controller"

Can someone find me that quote as I can't. It seems something fanboys read into a comment and ran away with it.

Hmm let’s see.

What do you think of Sony’s MOVE system in comparison to Natal?

Xbox 360 has a strong history of innovation. Halo, Xbox LIVE and instant-on 1080p HD- halo innovative, hmm seems like your regular fps to me but that down to are opinions.  1080p is rarely used by any console.

You can talk down not yet released technology but calling Halo a regular FPS is just wrong. Without Halo console gaming would have looked compleetly different. They set the standard of FPS on consoles, that brought PC's biggest genre to the consoles and soon it became common to release PC titles on PS2 and xbox aswell. And not just FPS but other genres aswell, right now titles are build for consoles and the PC comes second. Halo innovated console gaming, and if you dont believe that then atleast acknowledge that Halo's contribution to the FPS genre because that can't be denied.

I wasn't talking down project natal. just blunt untruths about it being the only system to let YOU be the controller.  In the another thread where they were saying which one was better wii or natal and were dismissing the move :( I voted for natal.  as for halo, I will do a little more research into the earlier titles

correct me if I am wrong
stop me if I am bias
I love a good civilised debate (but only if we can learn something).

Did he just use FF13 on xbox as a reference on how well it can do graphics? :S

Nothing is better than people who do not answer the question they are asked. Id actually be curious what they think of everything else.

He should run for some type of Public Office.

I love how he talks about the 360's "strong history" of innovation. Yes because 4 or five years is strong right? I say that Sony and Nintendo earned the strong history

Maybe I was a bit harsh on what you said about Natal. I already responded to someone else comparing Natal with the PS Eye, but the move and Natal are similiar. Although registering 3D movement from one source might not give the same feedback a full body 3D registration but for all we know Natal is one big lie so it's not worth discussing it.

I play games to do things I cant do in real life if I have to act out every movement I want to do in a game gaming will lose a lot of the fun. But for some games like RTS etc there are possibilities for intuitive gesture based gaming but I don't see it becoming the standard input for games. The only system that could replace a physical controller entirely is a thought based controller and even that wouldn't work for all game types.
