Forums - Sony - PlayStation Move will offer limited four player support

This is probably good news. I know of maybe one friend who has enough room for 4 people to be swinging around their controllers infront of his tv.

Btw latency increases with an increase in the number of players.

Processing time = 1 SPE / # players/inputs. So the longer it takes to process each, the more latency each will experience.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

woah more than 4 players? that would be chaotic and too much small space. thats why i like controllers better the motion controllers take too much space!

I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

^Indeed. Still, you can use 4 wands (or 4 DS3) at the same time.
The worst limitation is only 2 players with dual controllers each.
But, speaking practically, after four years of Wii games, how many of them allow more than 2 people, each using wiimote and nunchuk? I bet that's a very scarce number.

Mario Party allows for 4 simultaneous Wiimote + Nunchuck experiences, right?  Just trying to think of some.  What about MW: Reflex or any game that has 4 player split screen?  Do those?  Red Steel, maybe?

EDIT:  Oh I see nordlead put up a list already

Agreed.  Who really has all that space to handle more than 4 active players without getting hit in the face lol

that's grand...

there was a reason for the nunchuck not to be wireless...

anyways no one should own 4 controlers... friends can bring their own.

Couldn't disagree more. I've got a big screen HDTV and plenty of seating, no way I'd be too cheap not to buy 4 controllers so that I could entertain my friends and family.

I don't think anyone was talking about more than 4 players though.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Games that support 4 people and must use remotes/nunchucks

  • Mario Strikers Charged (the best multiplayer game on Wii)
  • NHL 2k10
  • PES 2009 (or any soccer)
  • NBA 2k10 (or any basketball)

None of them are forcing you to use a nun-chuck, but the following games use it and are typically gimped/casualized if they don't have the nunchuck.

  • Grand Slam Tennis (or any tennis)
  • Madden (or any football)
  • Mario Kart (the "best" control scheme if you want to be the fastest)
  • Brawl (it's better than just a Remote, but not as good as a classic/GC)
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 & TV
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
  • TMNT Smash-Up
  • Wii Music

Obviously most those style games will either be limited to 2-player with motion, be gimped, or they won't support motion controls at all. I'm also sure that if I actually dug through the database I could find more that necessitate the controls.

Fair, and yet you should probably cut from that list the games that on Wii require a nunchuck for the analog stick, but on the PS3 you could play just using the default controller, such as Brawl or MK.

Haven't played brawl much I take it. Brawl uses (on the GC controller, which is what I use cos I played so much Melee) the Control stick, the d pad AND the c stick. Two analogue sticks, and a dpad are requried to properly play brawl. Ie it could be done with the Sonymote and Sonychuk, but not with 2x Sonymote(unless you used the motion controls), and certainly not with 1x Sonymote (without ludicrously forced motion controls, such as twisting the controller to mimic the c stick)

Could sony not make a USB BT dongle, Kinda like the one I have that connects my blue tooth keyboard and mouse to my laptop ( which has no BT ).
12 player NHL games, No problem.
