trestres,

Dude, you've been on this site for a while now, judging by your post count. Yet it seems that you do not pay attention to the weekly Famitsu charts. I will now enlighten you. Sony, Capcom, and just about every other developer in Japan re-releases games. For example, Monster Hunter Portable has been re-released as a Best hits title. I could provide more examples but one is enough. It's similar to the player's choice titles that are released here in North America.

It's different actually, this is a decision by Nintendo themselves, not by the third parties who made the games. Obviously they will have to agree, but the release dates are given by Nintendo, whereas the Best Hits are released by the publishers themselves whenever they feel its fine.

You may be right. I just thought it was like the Players choice or Platinum Hits titles that get re-released here in North America because of their successful sales.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

they are trying to get more 3rd party sales and try to get more high quality games on the wii shelves

That's the main idea I know, but then 3rd parties should once in a while show the platform some love and make some quality games as well. It's hard to predict the Wii market, and 3rd parties may be reluctant to try, but the games can be a success. They are hurting themselves if they stop supporting the Wii for long periods and then suddenly come back, people do move on.

they are rewarding the companies that did so by making them part of this selection.  It's a cool idea, probably won't have a huge impact but it has to help some.  Get some shovelware off the shelves and more quality 3rd party titles.  I'm sure marvelous is very happy at least, the re-release  could go on to sell nearly half as much as the first release, who knows.

Yes Marvelous more than anyone deserves those sales. I hope Muramasa shows some legs. Little King's Story should be next.

LKS would be great, but I don't think it ranked high enough to even be considered. ;_;

I think the next Marvelous game in the line will probably be Rune Factory Frontier or maybe one of the Harvest Moons.  I'd also expect the line to continue for Wii's cycle (unlike NPC), it really does seem like a perfect solution to getting more sales for grumbling 3rd parties.
