They are the most popular genre since more people play MMOs than any other genre, probably more than many other genres combined.

Also I'd wager anything that TF2 has outsold anything that has levelling, meaning that is the more popular system and hence even by your logic you are wrong.

@Garnett

You have obviously not played squad games enough if you think 24 people run around with the same guns...

What games are you exactly talking about?

And the servers are down, now i lost all my points >_<

Oh easy, the one that has been thrown around a lot in this thread, TF2.

TF2 has ranking system.

From Wiki

"New sets of class-specific achievements have been added in updates, which add new abilities and weapons to each class once unlocked by the player. This unlockable system has since been expanded into a random-chance system, where the player can obtain the items by playing the game."

I think you need to realize that 1. it's a random system, but if you REALLY wanna work hard you can do it achievement, that is automatically different than levelling and 2. Almost all weapons are just alternative, and in many many situations people go back to using the started ones. On another note, there is NO ranking system, unless you have some form of fucked up definition for ranking.

If you play enough you unlock shit, thats leveling up.

What do you think all weapons are in every FPS? There alternatives to the other guns.

Point is you can unlock new stuff in TF2.

I can't believe you are so thick.

There is no experience, no pretige, and none of that bullshit that other games have. Do you know what that means? No levelling up, nothing you can use to measure yourself. As I said before, all the weapons aren't more or less are all the same, one will have 100%crits from behind but no compression blast, in the end it's still the same thing. There isn't a "with enough EXP you get the 88 sniper which kills stuff in 1 hit" crap that BC2 has for example.

You're probing people like you're a child. They give you an initial reason. Typically for most people that would be good enough, but you instead ask why. I suppose the purpose is that if you ask why enough times and delve deeper into the reasoning they'll cave and buy it or something.

An answer like "I couldn't get into the game" isn't an answer at all. Obviously he couldn't get into the game, that's like repeating the question. I think it was appropriate for me to ask "Why couldn't you get into the game?".

When he said that the controls were clunky, I remembered that a common problem was people not being able to adjust to the new controls (I couldn't myself), so I asked him if he knew that he could change the controls to Bad Company 1 style.

I didn't treat him like a child, I treated him like an normal person who had a common problem.

As for the FFXIII response, he was being snippy, so I was being snippy. You can call both of us immature, fine, but don't act like Ken was trying to stimulate a meaningful discussion that I was meant to foster with a thoughtful response.

I wouldn't expect you to see the forest for the trees. You're mildly obsessed with defending this game, and have to find different outlets. You're finding it difficult to understand the purpose of the comment you found snippy. You totally missed what one member was trying to tell you when you confused his answer as internet problems. You don't even have a good grasp on the original question you asked. Your first paragraph to me where you explain the redundancy of another member's answer suggests you think the question you asked is "Why don't you like BC2?". That's not what you asked at all. You asked "What's stopping you from getting it?". Someone saying "I couldn't get into the game" is in fact a very fine answer to that question.

Yes, which, with the exception of a very small handful, really are not "new" at all. The answer would actually be closer to no than to yes.

They randomly drop as you play. There is no ranking, no experience, no prestige. Just to stop you there before you get any other "bright" ideas.

So if you play a while you get new weapons?

While there isnt a leveling system nor ranks you do earn/get new weapons from playing the game.

So you do earn new stuff, randomly of course.

Let me explain how it works. Valve took the average play time, then adjusted the drop rates so that a person who plays the average amount of time will get everything they need, on average. I know my friend play a whole lot for a week straight and back then he got all the alternate weps in about a week. Good luck doing that with any of the other games.

That was a result of carelessness, which I appologized for. I don't see why you're attacking me for that when I so quickly and humbly appologized to gurgles for doing so.

No the question I asked was clearly: "So why do you struggle to keep interest in multiplayer?"

Where? Is that the impression you had from me, or what I actually said? Me memmory is bad so please correct me if I say that's not true.

No, he simply repeated what he said in the beginning. As I underlined below.

And by asking the question, I found out that his main gripes were his teamates, and the controls. To which I provided two remedies:

1. Using the official thread to find other people to play with who have mics and good personalities and teamwork. I've had loads of fun playing with fellow VGCharters, and it was purely in gurgle's interest to recommend him playing with other Charterz.

2. Reminding him of the ability to change back into BC1 controls, which is a very common issue in the beta, demo, and even now.

Imo the game deserves far worse than that. I just can't get into the games multiplayer and i lose interest very quickly. Glad i got it from gamefly and didn't buy it.

I'm not saying it was buggy or anything. I just can't get into the game where it is actually fun for me to play. Must be EA games because i can't get into Dead Space either.

No i can play online fine its just that i am bored out of my mind playing it.

OH!

... XD *facepalm*

My bad. I thought you said "internet" XD XD XD

...

So why do you struggle to keep interest in multiplayer?

The controls just feel very clunky. And most of the people online camp and don't use teamwork.
