"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Why don't you really want it? Have you seen the game play videos? I thought they were mindblowing when I first saw them. |
I have to agree with him. I also played the Beta and tiny bits and pieces over at friend's places. It feels off, can't specify more than that but it does just feel odd. Also levelling systems suck in FPS games. I wish BF2 never introduced it...

Leveling is necessary, as it encourages players to be more than simple death match players. You get more points by throwing medikits, ammo boxes, repairing, C4ing, motion sensoring, than camping and sniping.

Why do you believe Bad Company 2 is of lower quality than those titles? From the metacritic score, Bad Company 2 has been much more acclaimed than FFXIII, and it's even more remarkable as FFXIII has been hyped to death, and we know how those titles usually fair (GTA IV, MW2, etc).

You can do that with a basic point system, a la TF2. I swear I don't even know where all the points I get come from. Experience gaining is a horrible idea outside of RPGs and I damn the person whose head lit up with the idea.

I don't know how the point system in TF2, but a point system without rewards, is like money without purchasing power. There's simply no value or incentive to get those points, without any incentive and valuable things to be gotten from them.

You get bragging rights of going "you guys suck, all I did was build teleporters and dispensers." You get points for just about anything beneficial in TF2 and that's how it works and how it should be. You CAN indeed unlock alternate weapons, but their mechanics are always the same just tweaked properties and they are just alternatives. They are unlocked randomly by playing or by doing class achievements and that's it. But of course Valve is wrong, considering that TF2 will prolly sell more than BC2 ever will. Just something to think about.

Change your hype meter than bud =D
