Forums - Sony - How the PlayStation Move is NOT a Wii Remote

I'm thinking that list isn't meant to be "pros" and it's just a list of differences.

There's some real deal spin going on it if fewer control options for complex games, no off hand motion sensing, and z-axis without having to use a device bundled with the console are pros.

Not only can the Wiimote detect depth using the sensor bar, it can also determine at what angle it is pointing. Each end of the sensor bar has a cluster of 5 LEDs, with the outer two pointing outwards at 45deg angles. The infra-red camera in the Wiimote works out the distance between the outer LEDs and the three in the middle to calculate angle.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

lol it's funny how all non PS3 owners come to SONY threads to talk crap about Move....could have sworn that there was a thread about something similar in xbox section :P

anyways don't be so sad Wii fans , Nintendo will announce a HD console and everyone can go on about how they imitated PS and Xbox......

I mean seriously! The method and tech used is different! stop talking like Ninteno invented motion sensing or something....Wii has good games...so does Sony and so does Xbox...really don't understand what this butt hurt attitude is....every thread I went so far had post after post about this topic :S focus on what's important....the games....

Really? It looks to me like it can do so much more than a wiimote.

How? What new feature can be used to change the way the motion controls work? The article above highlights just how little of a change there is. Shooters will control the same, lolwaggle minigame collections will function the same, and the motion detection itself will largely be unchanged. There is nothing so different as to open up a new avenue to performing an action. Sensor, gyroscope, and buttons to make traditional games possible to work on system/control set-up.

Well, I think integration with a camera makes it vastly different then the wiimote, you don't even need any other features and it's already a totally different device. Then it can also measure distance from the camera so you can play in the z-plane, theres no strap between your right and left hand so you can use it more comfortably, and it glows, which has been pointed out to be pretty baddass.

@Mr sick, Yes but every reason is argued as a benefit to the Sony product, not the Wii.

Less buttons is a good example.

And i don't know how the gyroscope, in both the wmp and move, can always accurately measure exactly where you are. I think thats a bit of bullshit too.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i don't understand why people crying over this "rip off" thing....don't like it, don't buy it....simple....shut up and get on with it.  I'm sure more than half the people talking shit about playstation move will be getting one.  Like most people hated Wii have got a wii at home.

Well in no way do I think it is just a wii remote with a new setup. My main problem with it is, is Sony is doing nothing to make it uniquely theirs. Everything they have shown and talked about it is could easily have a Wii sticker slapped right on it. And even moreso, despite awhile since the original wiimote, they really haven't upped the technology too much more than what the wiimote can do.

And that's just my main problem, aside from the tech, is they just aren't making it uniquely theirs. That mainly hurts advertising because everyone knows the Wii and that is what they are going to see when they look at this. And that doesn't encourage people to buy it, because familiarity only causes you to keep buying what you already have rather than that (unless it is cheaper in the case of off-brand). Part of the reason Wii was able to get so big, is because Wii Sports was really uniquely Wii and it was able to become big about it. You aren't seeing that with Playstation Move and I don't think that is a good move by Sony (no pun intended).

However, I still do find it intriguing and will probably end up getting one eventually. But I am passed the hype phase and ready to see what Nintendo and MS have with vitality sensor and natal.

read two posts above you...he explains it perfectly.  It's the same thing, but upgraded to run better. (at least i hope it runs better)

No wire fits under the. "upgraded" aspect.

ugh I'm sorry, are you in some way saying the Wii didn't get showered with showelware? :D there are absolute gem of fun games on the wii hands down but the moment the sales picked up it got absolutely bombarded with showelware

every thread about the Move is filled with Wii fans going nuts for some reason :S tbh I think the Move is a good thing, now games like Madworld that was going out of the Wii thanks to horrible sales might actually stay around for ALL to enjoy...so it's Win Win
