Well, the game automatically sends those messages to your character. Any player periodically receive those mails addressed "Mom". The author of the comic strip probably didn't know this, but I guess that's good for him/her.

Wow! that certainly kills the "Im always thinking about you" scenario.
I hope noone tells the author...

I would find it unlikely that he couldn't tell the difference between the ingame mom and his real mom (also I doubt the ingame mom sends the same message every time)

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

That makes me fill with tears, i always get emotional real easy. Seriously i cant imagine if i lost my parents. You know i look at my life and hate it somedays, mostly for the choices i make, but im spoiled, plain and simple. I live a fantastic life, i may hate some of it, but compared to most......

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

It kinda does. But it doesn't really matter. What matters is the game gave him an opportunity to remember her love.

The important part was that she kept sending him stuff long after he stopped playing.  It wasn't the message that made it meaningful, but the fact that she spent so much time playing the game sending stuff to him.

I guess you still don't get what I said. Like I said, it could be the game that sent those auto-messages and presents in stead of his real mother (who knows). But even if that's the case, it's a good story.

The game doesn't give you presents, someone sends them to you.

Right.  The game attaches an auto-message to the presents you send, but you send the presents yourself.  I know, I own both the GC and DS versions and they both play the same.  There is a basic message (though you can write your own as well) sent with gifts, but the game doesn't auto-send presents.  I'm not sure you played the game, or at least you don't understand how it worked omoneru.

err GameCube one doesn't? DS one does. Well, whatever.

EDIT: ingame mom of DS version does send you presents.
