Ok so what I have gotten from reading your posts is that you are unaware of the fact that you are in the sales section of the site.  The way this works is we get sales data and we make sense of it.  If the numbers are bad, good, mediocre, etc...we still make sense of it. If you want to call them excuses and act like an ass and be pissy with people while saying "blah blah blah" a bunch then please go find another site to do this at.  If you have anything to contribute to this discussion then do so, in either case you need to stop acting like this here.

If you go back to the first page you will see several people saying that they are dissapointed in the numbers, and even some explaining that people expecting Halo 3 type numbers are completely insane for expecting that, which is true.  And now apparently a sell out is just an excuse. Maybe we should let businesses know that when they sell out of their product in the first 3 days its on the shelves it is just an excuse and they should have done better...I am pretty sure they still classify that as a success...poor ignorant bastards they don't even know they are doing awful!

Sarcasm aside, there are always going to be a few in the crowd who make an excuse but the majority of people are not and reacting like everyone is doing this is assanine and quite frankly trollish.  Especially posts like ckmlb's post above where he makes a generalizing and inflammatory comment and then makes a quick exit from the thread..actually that might be the definition of trolling.

The only excuse that has really been attempted thus far was the "its only out for 3/4 days" routine and it was shut down almost immediatly.  Everything else thus far that I have seen is a legitimate discussion on why the sales are where they are.

I will say this, at least you stuck around to defend your position, a lot more than most folks do.

Okay, sorry about the "blah blah blah" statement.  I wasn't trying to act assanine or "pissy" but if you read this thread and then read the threads around the time Mario didn't do as expected in JP, these argument are the same exact arguments we've already heard... I'm starting to thin that these arguments were copy and pasted.  I saw the first page but the same posts were being said again in the second and third page so I reiterated.  Just wanted to clarify.

@Just_Ben: if it's one of those problems then it should do better next week.

You mean supply or copies sold? Whats the reason why stores out of stock for that game in UK&DE?

SMG has been selling above list price on ebay UK. Can someone give an explanation for this other than the game is sold out in places?

Never underestimate peoples' stupidity when you combine holidays, money, and eBay.

True, but I'm looking at other current games and the same thing is not happening.

Heheh, yeah, it does imply that there are shortages of the game in some places.

You'll have to excuse me; I can't resist taking a cheapshot at idiots on eBay whenever I get the chance.

There was no chance of SMG being sold out in Japan DMeisterJ. We knew retail orders were 700K. Have you even read the topic? There is a large quantity of evidence to support that it sold out, and anecdotal evidence to support that it's still sold out. There is a chance this is a Nintendo production issue. They had issues with many big DS games last year. However, they also shouldn't have gotten more than 70K first week retail orders when it's been a full year since first week sales have been anywhere near that, and that includes big games like Metroid Prime 3.

This isn't an excuse.  It's simply logic.  Logic only looks like an excuse to those looking for a reason to attack.  People need to just calm down and step back and look at facts, rather than lash out.

Stop with the excuses... the game just didn't sell what you thought it would... There was no problem pressing discs... We've been doing that for years. The full playable game wasin Gamestop kiosks weeks before the game came out but they couldn't press enough disks? Be realistic. Stop making excuses. Accept it didn't sell what you thought it would, don't blame retailers for not ordering enough, and don't make the excuse that they couldn't press enough discs out. We don't know how much retailers ordered but if the game is as big as SMG, I'm sure the whole of the UK only ordered 70k units

No matter what you or other people in this thread say, the game IS sold out in many places in Europe. Not in all the stores, but in some stores at least. As was said a thousand times, retailers order games, they don't get a magical unknown quantity from Nintendo.

"I'm sure the whole of the UK only ordered 70k units"

Sarcasm doesn't prove anything.

Cance this, issue that, maybe this, one year since that, etc. Okay so you're still trying to make excuses for what the game has sold. I'm not going to revisit this post for another week so that when next week, when it sells less, I can be absolutely right. If I'm wrong, then I'll handle that but I won't make excuses about why I was wrong. I believed hands-down that the PS3 would be winning as soon as it came out but I was wrong. So what! I got over it, didn't excuse Sony's piss-poor behavior and astronomical prices. So stop grasping at straws and accept that the game hasn't done what was expected. Thanks :)

DMeisterJ this is a SALES forum. People are not finding excuses, they're rationally discussing things which are happening in the real world (a concept that you seem to have some difficulty grasping).

Also, no Wii game in Japan sold 700k first week so why would they order 700k units of a game that never sold that much (or close to that) in their first week? Like I said, we don't know what was ordered by Europe, and anecdotal evidence is not evidence. My kind of evidence is from sources and companies, not people who went to the store and it wasn't there.

So who said it will sell next week more than this? And who said it that stayed and discussed with you?
