Forums - Sony - Rumor: 3D FW update releasing june 10th

That could be just the release date of the Sony LX900 3d TV...

Why would they finalize a date three months out from release?

Only reason I could think they might do that is if they were releasing it the day of or day after their E3 conference. When's E3 this year? Should be around the start of June, right?

They might want it day and date with the time their 3D TV release. I can't see any other reason myself.

Well that makes a whole lot more sense, lol.

I wonder how well or likely badly it will compare to the already existing 3D gaming solutions on the market like Nvidias.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

There has been rumors of Samsungs and Sony's new 3D tvs not supporting Nvidia 3D vision for Pc gaming. If true, its quire mindboggling but at the same time, it puts the PS3 in a good position for the people that spent 4000 dollars on a new TV...

People are more likely to spend $300 on a new monitor than $3000 on a new TV to support 3D. In addition to this, Nvidia already supports more games with 3D than Sony will even if they put their weight behind it for the entirety of the remainder of the generation. Lastly Natal makes a 3D based HTPC/3D Gaming PC quite viable too so lets not forget that either.

Why are they pushing 3D T.V? Unless it's VR and I feel like I'm in the movie,I really don't see the point of a 3D T.V. I could be wrong, but what value does this have? I would really like to know.

Yep.

The console/casual user 3D push is becoming kind of a joke to be honest.

People are not just limited to 300 dollar LCD's. The consumer can buy this and enjoy amazing 3D for over 2 years now. - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Mitsubishi+-+60%22+Class+1080p+Rear+Projection+DLP+HDTV/9487192.p?id=1218112691007&skuId=9487192

And this supports Nividia 3D vision and has absolutely zero ghosting.

If PS3 as a bluray player is able to work with these Mitsubishi DLP TVs...which it should as Mitsubishi promissed an add-on to make it work if it doesn't...I urge anyone that is interested in 3D to buy it instead of the new LCD's and plasmas that support it.

It looks as good if not better, its 60 inches, it costs 3000 dollars less and works with Nvidia 3D vision on the PC.
