Forums - Sony - PS "ARC" it only does everything interview, is it just a wii mote 2.0?

"There's really no limit with the types of game that the Motion Controller can enhance. Nothing currently on the market delivers an innovative experience that's intuitive for casual gamers and engaging for hardcore fans, and that's the opportunity the PS3 Motion Controller will fulfill."

he said that like the wii does not exists.

That is it, i am going back in time, right now, armed only with this quote
"The Motion Controller technology was built to address all types of gamers"

I might visit 2006, should be fun

This is the key part. Wii has grasped casual gamers but not the hardcore fans.

Well to be fair there is nothing really on the Wii for hardcore gamers only hardcore Nintendo fans and casuals.. But I guess that all could be argued as opinion anyways.

Well, it sounds like he's talking about the Wii, only he works for Sony so... what the hell is going on?

And Seeing as to how I own pretty much all hardcore games on my Wii I guess nintendo has grasped that. Its not really their fault people don't buy the other software as much as they probably should.

But on another note. Implementing motion technology along with HD technology means that development costs are going to skyrocket for developers using the Arc. The investment might not be worth the return in the end. Can't wait to see how much support this thing gets and for how long. The same with Natal. Nintendo is far cheaper to develop for thanks to no HD.

No, I fundamentally disagree with this. What it hasn't captured is the teen-early 20s market of gamers. There is no hardcore apart from us nerdoids on the internet. For the majority hardcore should read young man (often infantilised).

There's something for everyone on the machine I think. It just takes playing the right game. There's something for everyone on all the machines.

well yes there is something for everyone on every console, but there is not everything for someone on any other console, and that's what This guy from Sony is trying to say. That's what makes it different.

Yeah well I don't rate Natal or Arc as a high chance of success this gen. It's a bit far through the generation for 3rd parties to be willing to take big risks on a peripheral will be doing well to achieve a 25% attach rate. Though I certainly hope they get sufficient support to become a pack in item from the beginning of the next generation. Then Sony and MS motion controls will get the right amount of support.
