Forums - Sony - Slimmer PS3 Slim is expected this March

BC might be a good boon for Sony to start including now.
WIth dwindling ps2 sales WW, reinstating BC would give consumers a really good reason to buy one and further give a reason to keep the price at 300$. Keep packin' that value in there Sony.

This is most definitely to get costs down. So one must wonder, is there many more steps to go in breaking even? Or could this be the last step? Can't wait to get next Quarter's numbers, as they may provide the answer.

So it now goes:

P.S.3
P.S.3 Slim
P.S.3 Slimer?
Next: P.S.3 Slimest?

Anyway I don't expect this to have even a slight effect on sales but hey if it cost less money to make then go for it!

The extent of its changes are probably only a slightly smaller powersupply, fan and motherboard.

.2 lbs? That's hardly anything, but I'm sure that Sony will appreciate the drop in production cost just like MS will with its newer versions

It will be called the PS Thrii

It will be small like the PS2 and be bundled with the Arc.

Gah, I hope it's not anything too special, I just ordered me a PS3 slim.

My guess is that they got the RSX down to 45nm further cutting costs and being able to remove some stuff from the MB, as well as possibly improving the cooling situation. This probably means they are breaking even now, I do not expect a new redesign though.

so less PS3 for the same money?
Count me as "meh"

that extra 200g was reassuring quality wise. I wonder where they shed the weight?
