Maybe MS would have to bite the bullet and release a new HDD just for the "slim" to work.

That would suck as I would be one who would look to get one myself, but as long as they made a decent way to transfer your information to the new drive that would be great.   I know the 120GB HDDs came with a transfer cable, so something like that could work.    But they could just integrate the old HDDs into the new model with a little finesse in the design department

Maybe a redisign is a good idea.
Not to stimulate sales like Sony did but to finally put to bed the RRoD troubles.
With a redesigned console people will think they've worked on it even if they haven't. Its all about public perception and the public are morons.

But then they should have done that a year ago.

From what I've read over the past year from multiple sources the RRoD rate for the newest consoles (since what.. jasper chips?) is supposed to be less than 4%.  Considering no one knows what the original % really was, it would be hard to beleive 4%... still.. RRoD is so 2008.  I don't think the public perception is as bad as you think it is.  Oh, and a new xbox would rock.  I don't know if it needs to be "slim," but something less noisey would be nice.

It would be nice to see a 360 Slim and I think it would drive sales for the Xbox. Also, I would think that it would increase the reliablity of the hardware :). However, I don't know if there ever will be one. I know I would get one and trade in my old one for it.

This could just mean they're getting serious about the next box. Nothing saying it would produce a new product this year either. The size of the hd is a good point. Maybe short instead of slim.
Chipsets and ram aside, do something with the basic white plastic box.

Yeah, thats why I said they probably should have done it a year ago. RRoD perception still lingers but like you said not that bad and to be honest mainly fanboy fodder or brought up in gaming articles, neither of which would get back to the general console buying public.

It would explain why the Arcade is 130$ here everywhere in Canada. They want to get rid of stock.

360 slim was Sony's idea?

Wait you mean Sony invented console redesign? Oh I get it another "simpsons did it" cry.

Megadrive 2 says hi and "slim" is what people call the newer model but not its actual name or a concept owned by Sony.
I do agree that it was good of Sony to steal an awesome idea. Gaming would be stagnent otherwise.
