Forums - Sales - "Other" region games' sales - where do they come from?

I noticed that information about sales for "other" region was updated for a bunch of games recently. I would like to know from where this data comes, what frametime does it cover and wheter it covers all "other" region or just a part of it.

I am especially interested in those 3 titles: PES 2008, Fifa 08 and Call of Duty 4. And I also have doubts about those games sales. Acording to vgchartz data Fifa sold 0.61mln and PES 0.62 in Other region on Xbox 360 platform. PS3 versions sold only 0.41 mln (Fifa) and 0.36mln (PES). But in most countres PS3 versions were leading in European charts with most notable exception being UK: but even there the difference wasn't that big (at least in 1st week).

I have also doubts about CoD4 (Xbox 360) selling 3 times as many as PS3 version (0.45 mln vs 0.14 mln). It's true that in most countries Xbox 360 is the leading platform (acording to European charts) with only one exception - Spain. Hovewer in UK Xbox 360 version sold only around 2 times as many as PS3 version. As UK is the country where Xbox 360 advantage over PS3 is the biggest I found it hard to belive that other, less-favouring for MS markets could help Xbox CoD4 enough to beat PS3 version 3:1. (As the charts are avalible for a few days now I am assuming that only first week of CoD sales are taken in account).

Around the Network

A few very, very important things about the European market:

The United Kingdom has, easily, the largest sales vs. everyone else. The United Kingdom buys *roughly* the sales of #2 (France) and #3 (Germany) combined. The UK is huge for "other" sales.

Because of this, and the fact that the PS3 only has 1/3rd the sales in the UK as the X360, titles will definately be slanted in the X360's favor there. Having the largest share (vs. the PS3) in the largest country is very, very important.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The 360 version sold 2:1 in UK To all other versions combined. Link

Here are the charts for that week. The charts also include a PC version! so the 360 version outsold the PS3 version>2:1 in UK. As for the PES. The PS2 version>The 360 version>The PS3 version.

Anyone can answer the question?

I don't have a hard proof that CoD4 Xbox 360 version outsold PS3 version by 2:1 (that's why I used word "around" in my first post). But neither do you that it didn't. Xbox version sold 63% and I assumed that that lion's share of ther rest 37% was PS3 sales becouse PS3 version was on 2nd place and PC version was only on 8th. Xbox advantage may be higher than 2:1 but there is very little chance it was 3:1. And with all others European countries where Xbox is weaker it's not odd to ask where 3:1 ratio comes from.

The PS2 version>The 360 version>The PS3 version.

That's a great information. Again you have told me something I didn't know.

@mrstickball: Of course UK is the biggest of European market but it's not the only one. Europe has around 700 millions of people only about 60 mln of them live in UK (it's 9%). Acording to vgchartz this week in UK 192k of consoles were sold while in all "Other" region 719k were sold, so it gives UK 27% of market share. My opinion for UK actually is a little less optimistic and I would say that it is around 20% of European market as I am convinced that other regions are highly underestimated (it's not any accusation at this site as it would be extremly hard to track 50 European countries correctly). You of course can disagree with me but anyway you should agree that all other European countries shold easily outsell UK.
I don't know what PS3 titles are selling 1/3 of what Xbox 360 version are but it's very little chance that this is the case in Fifa, PES or CoD4. Fifa on Xbox 360 sold in it's first week only 30% more than on PS3 (share was: 44% PS2, 26% Xbox 360, 20% PS3). For PES first week: 42% PS2, 30% Xbox 360, 28% PS3 + PC, hovewer PS3 version was charted on 3rd position and PC version didn't even get to top 40 individual UK Chart. So it's obvious that PS3 share was "close" to 28%, where "close" means no more than few per cents away.
