I would be surprised if the PS3 weren't up year over year in the first eight months of the year.

Worldwide yes, but in the USA specifically February 2009 was a relatively good month for the PS3 primarily because of Killzone 2, as has been pointed out. With the shortages it was having and if Heavy Rain hadn't sold as well as it did I would have expected it to be a little down in the USA this month.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Killzone 2 is a Red Herring in this, the boost wasn't that big.

360 keeps america... that will more long that I excepted for the  ps3 catch 360.... we will see the gow 3 effect in march in usa, but after....360 rules (splinter, alan wake...),it's very hard for sony in usa...

I thought Wii would be down much more because of the supply issues.

Compared to VGC numbers Wedbush/EEDAR are a little on the low side with 360.

PS3 should be well up. VGC has PS3 up YoY for Americas by 15.8% I expect NPD to be the same or at least in double digits.

I'm actually expecting 360 to be slightly up YoY in NPD. VGC has 360 at 405K for Feb '10. It had 360 at 398K for Feb '09. So it should come as no surprise if 360 NPD is up by 2-5%. With numbers that close being down by 1 or 2 % is also on the cards. But 10%+? That would be a big surprise to me.

Exactly.  I mean, I'd expect that too for obvious reasons.

But I'm sure we'll get a thread every month anyways.

I'd say all current systems had a pretty good month excluding the PSP.

Explain this math to me:

PS3 – 300,000 (+9%) / 280,000 (+1%)
Xbox 360 – 350,000 (-10%) / 335,000 (-14%)

According to this chart, I am seeing either the systems BOTH decline in sales, or both INCREASE in sales.  Please let me know what I am missing here.

68% is actually a pretty significant boost.

Sales for the month of February were boosted 68%?
