Forums - Gaming - Girl mistakes gun for Wii controller - kills herself

God I hope they don't blame this on games and not on the dumb-shit stepfather that left a loaded gun where a three year old could get a hold of it.

There's absolutely no excuse for that and I hope they charge him for manslaughter.

It's perfectly fine to own guns, but:

  1. You should be taught in gun safety
  2. Don't fucking leave it loaded
  3. Leave it locked somewhere so that only the people who you want can have access to it

So, in Tennessee you can leave a loaded firearm within reach of an unsupervised child and face no charges if that child hurts somebody with it?

Come. On.

Oh she wasn't unsupervised, the mother was in the same room as the child...

it was funny before i realized she was 3 years old :P

Smart move, daddy. Seriously, classes before you buy guns people. I have a firearms certificate on my license, everyone should before they are allowed to own one.

PS3 cures cancer. X360 contollers are used by the military and people kill themselves because of the Wii. Decide for yourself who is the good guy in this tale :P :P

Not the time for these jokes, dude.

OT: What kind of idiotic parent leaves a gun on the table of the living room?

*Sigh* This is terrible news. Truly sorry for the parent's loss, but they have nobody to blame but theirselves.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

According to the stepfather, the gun was out because he had heard a prowler and gotten the gun out earlier that evening. He then left the gun on the table in the living room.

So in case someone breaks into the house they don't need to bring their own guns anymore?

the parents are 100% to blame for this. Regardless of what happened, leaving a loaded gun on a table in the family room is irresponsible and dangerous for anyone.

In this case, at 3 y.o. children have a hard time differentiating things. Today toy guns have to be different colors, but that is only so police don't shoot children who are playing, not so children know which guns are real.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

This story has nothing to do with the Wii.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

YOU DO NOT PUT A FUCKING GUN ON THE TABLE WHERE CHILDREN ARE PRESENT! IT'S CALLED FUCKED UP PARENTING! WHAT ASSHOLES!

This has nothing to do with the Wii and everything to do with leaving a gun unattended.

Plus something is fishy here, if I were an investigator I would try to dig deeper into this - since when does someone point a Wii controler shaped like a gun at one's abdomen, even if they think it is a Wii controller? And before you say well this is a 3 year old, think a second - a 3 year old that knows how to pull a trigger? Something is wrong here, and I have this horrible feeling it is not the child that has pulled the trigger.
