I heard someone did a Kanye West.

Please tell me this isnt true?  Or at least it was a spoof

It's true and was awkward and hilarious. The expression on the director's face was priceless.

Interview about what happened. You should be able to find the Youtube video.

I don't care about the oscars.

Then don't post in the thread.

OT: I actually thought this years was pretty decent overall. I'm glad that Jeff Bridges won best actor. It also made me want to watch Precious quite a bit.

Star Trek was totally snobed.
That's too bad.

I never seem to be able to get myself to watch these type of things, they are so boring....

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published

^^^^^How come Avatar wasnt up for this award?

James Cameron created the whole story/universe of Avatar it couldn't have been nomintated in that category.  It should have been nomintated for best original screenplay but got snubbed.

You obviously didnt get the joke, but thats ok.  And no it shouldnt have been nominated for best original screenplay,  there was nothing original about it.

I'm pretty sure it was a lot more original when James Cameron first came up with the idea over 15 years ago he just didn't have the tools to make it into a feature film back then.

Isnt that still 5 years after Dances with Wolves came out?

Haven't seen Avatar yet so I can't compare it with Dances with Wolves.

So how are you arguing for Best Original Screenplay nomination then?

I'm pretty sure most origianal screenplays aren't very orginal.  Beauty and the Beast won for best original score even though the main theme is a blatant rip-off of The Carnival of the Animals: The Aquarium by Camille Saint-Saens.

I thought this was relevant

Pocahontas the Disney Cartoon was first released 15 years ago :)

Edit: It's just a funny coincidence

I'm so glad Avatar didn't win!!! The Hurt Locker was a fantastic movie!

I thought Alec and Steve were great as hosts. It's too bad that everything was rushed at the end (as it always is). Things were going by so quickly by the end that the Best Picture nominations almost seemed like an afterthought at the pace that it was being announced.

I was really hoping for James Horner to win the best Original Soundtrack award, but if anyone else had to win it, I would be the happiest with Up. Congrats!

But other than that, by biggest disappointment with the show was that the award winners were so incredibly predictable (not that that's a bad thing in itself, as some more than others deserved to win... but it would have been nice to see some Dark Horses win some awards). I correctly guessed 22 of the 24 winners (one of which I got wrong was best animated short. ).

And like Monty, seeing Christoph Waltz up there made me smile with glee. Uber Bingo indeed.

And when will we ever get past this whole Avatar Story thing guys? Gee whiz, it got old back in December.

I was surprised by these awards.

Avatar won what it deserved and nothing more. I was not as impressed by The Hurt Locker (I enjoyed Up and District 9 more to be honest) but I can see why it won.

I also wish Star Trek had won just a little more, but I guess it was out of the question since it contended with Avatar on a lot of things which Avatar did do better.

I too find Bullock irritating, but I did not see her movie this year so maybe it was different. Also she aged very very badly.

Christopher Waltz really did deserve that award, congrats
