Or did they all get locked after Avatar failed to win any major awards?

Anyway, good to see The Hurt Locker win a few awards but I was shocked to see it clean up (six, really?). Since I've only seen 7 or so of the nominees, I can't comment on Crazy Heart or Blindside. I do know that Sandra Bullock absolutely bugs the hell out of me, though.

Thoughts? Comments? Tears?

It wasn't really an incredible year for cinema (at least by most snooty standards).

That, and the Academy Awards are boring. The Christoph Waltz award makes me very happy though. The dude totally deserves it.

I can always predict which movies will win the awards. The ones I haven't seen :P

I'm now interested in Precious, though.

Am I the only one who thought the Hurt Locker stunk mad donkey ass?! I tried my best but I couldn't even finish it, it was so boring. All it is is a group of guys defusing some car bombs.

I guess they were going for a realistic movie, not a flashy action packed war film but damn it was boring. Realistic isn't always good/necessary.

James Horner got screwed again what else is new. Also I think that the Hurt Locker won a few to many. I'm pretty sure Avatar was more deserving of the two sound Oscars it won. Haven't seen the Hurt Locker yet but I doubt its better then Letters from Iwo Jima which only won one Oscar.

I'm happy that my country's movie won Best Foreign Film. And disappointed that neither Freeman nor Damon won Best Actor/Supporting Actor

Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published

^^^^^How come Avatar wasnt up for this award?

If you're talking about Invictus, I disagree. I loved the movie, but Morgan Freeman seemed somewhat out of place (I dunno, maybe I've just never seen much of Nelson Mandela), and Matt Damon seemed a bit stiff (although he was definitely constricted by his role).

James Cameron created the whole story/universe of Avatar it couldn't have been nomintated in that category.  It should have been nomintated for best original screenplay but got snubbed.
