Forums - General - Alice in Wonderland BEATS Avatar in Opening Weekend!! (WOW)

That really isn't a big deal.

A lot of movies beat Avatar's opening weekend. However, I doubt that AiW is going to have a second weekend anywhere near Avatar.

Its a decent movie. Not something you'd want to watch more than once. The 3D effects are nowhere near as prevalent as they are in Avatar.

@mrstickbal

Are you sure? Did you see the movie? I heard the 3d effects blow pandora away

Avatar's second week was bigger than the first.

It will die down quickly. Maybe it's a good movie, but Avatar was like mario kart wii and Alice in Wonderland will be more like modern warfare 2.

I don't think you understand.

Alice in Wonderland is the sixth biggest opening weekend of all time, behind huge movies.

And it's the biggest opening weekend that is not a sequel.

I compared it with Avatar mostly because of the IMAX aspect.

Look at this list:

And look at the movies close to Alice in Wonderland.

It's amazing!

I wasn't impressed. Modern Tim burton=Hot Topic T-shirt salesmen.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Good, going to see this in 2 weeks time, in 3D of course. I can't wait but honestly, I don't think it'll be as good as Avatar. I'll do enjoy it anyway though, there's quite an amazing cast of actors in Alice in Wonderland. ^^

I wasnt impressed at all by the movie
I went to see it on IMAX 3D and honestly it was a HUGE letdown
i love burton movies but this was just boring and the visuals are a disappoinment (and HELL NO the visuals do NOT beat Avatar ones pffft to whoever said that) in my opinion this is burton worst movie in recent memory
and heres an advice for whoever wants to take it:
dont waste ur money for the 3D version its not worth it

btw im pretty sure that by next weekend the movie is going to be almost 4gotten
THE MOVIE SUCKED PURE AND SIMPLE

Most of Burton's movie are loved and hated.

Loads of people hated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and yet the critics were really good.
Alice in Wonderland is not different.

It depends on how you look at it:

Is AiW hitting ~$120m in March a great number? Yes, absolutely. However, if your trying to compare AiW to Avatar because of first week numbers, then I hate to say it, but your dumb. I've been analyzing the box office far longer than video games, and the problem with AiW is that the legs of AiW are going to be horrible compared to Avatar.

@leo-j

I watched both movies in IMAX 3D. Theres no comparison.
