I think (though I may be wrong) when saying gameplay doesn't matter much they mostly mean the combat. I knew already a while back the combat was not supposed to be exactly stellar (...), I don't really care though, it's the atmosphere and exploration I am looking forward to in this game, so I am still getting it. Gameplay does matter, but for me, exploration=gameplay.
